Is she a contestant?
[edit]There is no source added that she is a contestant. I suggest to remove it if there is no citation is adding. abhilashkrishn talk 23:24, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Abhilashkrishn: The show itself would be proof that she is a contestant and wouldn't typically be required. But to satisfy your curiosity, a quick search yields this. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 01:34, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
- It's unlikely for abhilashkrishn, a Malayali, to don't know that she is a contestant since it's the talk of the town. One who has access to TV and social media doesn't require to watch the show to know that. Even for non-Malayali Cyphoidbomb a quick search was all that was required. 137.97.43.248 (talk) 11:45, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
Wiki is not a research page and our personal knowledge doesn't matter without citation. All those without citation would be removed. abhilashkrishn talk 04:33, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
- You are wrong. Read what administrator Cyphoidbomb says: No reference is needed for proof that someone is on a current TV series, since the series itself is a primary source. Try to understand the purpose of citation, if it's verifiable without citation then it's not necessary. 137.97.135.74 (talk) 14:37, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Abhilashkrishn: To clarify, a TV show is a reference, just like a book is a reference. If I say "Arjuna is a figure in the Bhagavad Gita", do you need a citation from a secondary source to verify the claim? No. You just open the book and read until you see the name Arjuna. Similarly, you can watch Bigg Boss and see if Arya is on the show. If I say "Sherlock Holmes saves Irene in the episode 'A Scandal in Belgravia'", do I need a secondary source to confirm that? No, because you can watch the episode and verify whether or not what I said was true. This is what we call a primary source, and primary sources are acceptable in some circumstances like these. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:06, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
Indeed... primary source is required. However where is the primary source mentioned anywhere in that statement. abhilashkrishn talk 18:14, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
Also one more thing to add as per wiki policy on primary source:-
Do not add unsourced material from your personal experience, because that would make Wikipedia a primary source of that material. Use extra caution when handling primary sources about living people. abhilashkrishn talk 18:20, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Abhilashkrishn: You can repeat your erroneous understanding of our sourcing guidelines as many times as you want, but you will still be wrong. I am extraordinarily familiar with community editing standards as they pertain to sourcing. A show's credits, i.e. Bigg Boss, can be used to verify whether or not someone is on that show. That's why film cast lists aren't sourced unless the film hasn't been released. That's why we don't require references for plot details in TV or film articles; the film/tv show itself is a suitable reference for uncontroversial content. If you want a second opinion, go ask at WikiProject Television, but I'm certainly not learning anything new having this fruitless argument over and over with someone who doesn't want to expand their understanding.
