Is there really a Cold War bomb shelter under Arvin High School?

[edit]

For documentation purposes:

  • diff:424341188(09:41, 16 April 2011)(no summary) *sentence first introduced here
  • diff:437826255(06:25, 5 July 2011)(summary: I have corrected the name of the Mechanical Drawing teacher: Audie Watts. They were family friends; my father taught at Arvin High as well. I did not know about the bomb shelter.)

I have attempted to search for any mention of a bomb shelter with "Arvin High" in the same page in the internet, and all I managed to find was websites that copied from Wikipedia. Maybe I'm just not particularly good at searching.
But despite that second edit by an IP, even if from personal knowledge (thus WP:OR problems), agreeing on the existence of the teacher, they claim that they did not know about a bomb shelter - despite their father having taught at the school.

I have chosen to remove that section due to not being find any info about it (nor about the teacher's role as Civil Defense Coordinator, under either name) - and because the recounting in that second edit summary makes me think that it's either unverifiable, or a rumour, or it does exist but isn't under that school, or it doesn't exist anymore? It just puts things into doubt.

That said, it's a very detailed description, and the user who added it contributed many other things to the page (they are also the one who created the page in the first place), so I don't really doubt their intent.

The user who added it last edited in April of this year, so I'll leave them a note in their talk page with a link to this post (unsure how active they are), and I'll also link this post in the summary of my edit removing that sentence.

Other people who know more about it can decide if it's worth re-adding it, if it's in any way verifiable.
