The population of the city

[edit]

In the graph it is mentioned that artvin had a population of 125000 people which is impossible since it was mentioned in 1990 that the population was 20000 it couldn't have jumped so much so I looked at alternative sources and corrected it — Preceding unsigned comment added by Luka rekhviashvili bartyenti (talkcontribs) 18:40, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Comment

[edit]

The information on ethnicity of the population is somewhat misleading. What they call Turks were actually Lazs (ethnically Georgians speaking Laz language), who were forced to convert to islam and change their names according to Ottoman traditions. Also, most of the churches called in this article as Armenian Catholic are actually Georgian Orthodox (similar architectural style), which is easy to prove since the signs on those still surviving structures are clearly made in old Georgian alphabet (somewhat similar to that of Armenian, thus the confusion). What an excellent way to mislead people.

[edit]

So you put the total demographics in text to hide the fact that Turks form the majority and tabulated the tiny city in which Armenians formed the majority. Propaganda at its finest. i'mg going to upload the regional demographics. No need to mislead people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.221.106.189 (talk) 00:57, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Falsifying the history of the city

[edit]

The whole description of the church history of Artvin is influenced by Armenian references trying to proclaim it as historic Armenian province. All this is incorrect, as the region was part of Georgian all the time, populated by Georgians (Lazs, Chans, Klarjetians, Meskhetians). Please provide the truth and don't mislead the people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gio7747 (talkcontribs) 03:19, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Except that the region was historically mixed and claimed by both countries. AlenVaneci (talk) 06:23, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
