Deceased

[edit]

Arthur Robinson is a deceased (highlighted yellow) World Life Master at WBF Master Points WBF AllTime Open Ranking ( by PPs and then MPs). --P64 (talk) 20:31, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The linked record shows that 121 (Next page) all-time players are known to have 10 placing points (PP) in the open category, which is the threshold for World Grand Masters (WGM). Partners Jordan and Robinson are two of nine with 11 PP, ranks 97 to 105 on this list. They are deceased (highlighted yellow). They are merely World Life Masters (WLM) thanks to earning their PP as runners-up only. Just over 100 are WGM.
Their 1961 Vanderbilt teammate Eric Murray (1928–living) has a more impressive list of world runners-up and ranks #47-49 on the same list with 18.5 PP, the second-highest ranking mere-WLM. --after the Swedish American New York City club owner Björn Fallenius (NEEDs mention there!).
("121 all-time players are known": it is also known that some early players are missing from the points/titles database; backward construction is in progress) --P64 (talk) 21:56, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bicentennial match

[edit]

As part of the American bicentennial celebration a British team invaded Philadelphia for a teams-of-four match. Alan Truscott featured it in NYTimes columns 1976-07-21 to 24; pages 30, 28, 60, 20. The finale: "Redcoats Fail to Capture Philadelphia for the Crown". Jordan–Robinson came out of retirement to participate.

Marriage

[edit]

According to Judy Kay-Wolff describing in 2010 photos from her 1963 wedding to Norman Kay (bridge) in Philadelphia: guests "Arty" and Harriett were then husband and wife. [1], Photo #3: "Arthur Robinson and Co." --P64 (talk) 00:48, 8 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
