Overall: The hook is factually accurate. But I think it's a bit dry. Frankly, the subject seems to have been a not very interesting person. Even the important court case in which he was heavily involved appears to have been very dry, even by the standards of major court cases. I was tempted to suggest the alternative hook of "... that West Virginia attorney general Armistead Abraham Lilly (pictured) referred to himself as a "fighting Republican"?". However, that's a vague description, and perhaps also not NPOV enough for a hook. How about this one:
- ALT1 "... that American lawyer and politician Armistead Abraham Lilly (pictured) was also a principal owner of Ruffner Hotel in Charleston, West Virginia, and resided in its penthouse?"
