This page really needs to be watched to ensure it shows a neutral point of view, is encyclopaedic, and correctly attributes its sources. BaHaReep 05:37, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The line: "(Muralitharan was subsequently cleared by bio-mechanical experts hired by the ICC.)" should be removed or modified because it is desperately trying to infer that Ranatunga was correct and justified in his actions by trying to take his team off the field. There were commentators thought his actions petulant and not justified - no matter the view of whether Muralitharan's action constituted throwing or not under the old rules. Muralitharan's actions (and controversy) are discussed on his own page and the author's implication of his/her point of view of Ranatunga's actions should be removed and/or made neutral. I second the view of BahaReep as stated by him above. Apart from that, the grammar and language of this article needs to be corrected. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KgpianAsimov (talkcontribs) 14:45, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality

[edit]

I particularly like this passage under Wrangles with Warne and it's lack of neutrality:

"While this saw him a maligned figure among the Australian public, who ridiculed his brinkmanship, his ability to lead the long-standing minnows of world cricket to a World Cup win, over Australia in the final, is arguably one of the greatest displays of captaincy in the history of cricket. Australia was renowned for intimidating its opponents, and Ranatunga's ability to take on and rattle the team of renowned sledgers inspired his players to stand up to them in an era in which few other sides could.[5][6]"

No... not at all opinionated. (118.210.96.84 (talk) 13:01, 27 November 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Assessment comment

[edit]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Arjuna Ranatunga/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

Ian Healy's page suggests that he called Arjuna Ranatunga a "fat cunt" and this page that he called him an "overweight twat." Both are in quotes but neither is sourced. If the exact phrase is unknown perhaps to replace it with "a derogatory comment about his weight" would be better, or words to that effect.
