The caterpillar of the dark-spotted tiger moth (Ardices canescens), a moth found across most of Australia. The caterpillars are polyphagous, eating a variety of plants including pumpkin (pictured), sunflower, dandelion and hollyhock. They are also used as hosts for parasitoid wasp larvae.Photo: Toby Hudson
