Origin?

[edit]
  • What is the source for that information: "He is of Armenian origin"? It isn't true, because he said "I am Turkish. I'm a fan of AFC Ajax and Galatasaray SK. I have not decided about national team issue. I can join to Dutch or Turkish national team." in a tv show (Aslantepe Arena Açılış Töreni, Kanal D, 15 January 2011). I wanted to edit the article, but the article was semi-protected. --Eng-men (talk) 17:30, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed the Armenian origin statement, as there is no reliable source for it. Given the controversy, I think it's best to not mention nationality at all unless there is some clear-cut confirmation. If on the other hand he has described himself as Turkish, and there is a way of verifying that, it would be worthy of inclusion. —WFC18:08, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4YAkC61RF8&feature=player_embedded...In that interview, Aras says 'I'm born in Turkey, but I'm of Armenian descent.'

She then asks him if his parents moved to Turkey from Armenia and he replies 'yes, actually my ancestors did'. Next question is are you more Turkish than Armenian? Aras replies, 'no, no', the lady quickly makes it more Armenian than Turkish and he says 'yeah that's the way I feel'. She asks what the difference is, he says: 'the difference between the cultures isn't that big, but the religion is, I'm Christian and go to church'.

Hope that puts an end to the "controversy" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.93.198.172 (talk) 22:08, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How did Aras go from Ajax to Kuban?

Name

[edit]

I propose we make the "O" in his name the English version because he does not have any still existing allegiance to the country of his birth and he personally spells his name "Ozbiliz" on his Facebook. If I don't get any objection in 48 hours I'm changing it. --TheShadowCrow (talk) 23:16, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No objections? Very well, then. --TheShadowCrow (talk) 00:28, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
