It's fairly obvious in photographs of Ara Ball that he's likely multiracial, but I cannot find any sources which adequately clarify whether he's Black Canadian for the purposes of belonging in Category:Black Canadian filmmakers, or Indo-Canadian for the purposes of belonging in Category:Asian-Canadian filmmakers. I can find stray references to him having spent about six months in India at an early point in his career, but nothing that clarifies whether that had anything to do with having personal ancestry there. So just a note to keep an eye out in case sources emerge that properly address whether he is indeed multiracial, so that he can be added to the appropriate category if and when it's verified.
