Not a separate subspecies?
[edit]I have been told on very good authority that the A. m. pomonella is NOT a separate subspecies, but in fact the A. m. caucasia, or at least a phenotype.
If anyone can provide a paper, etc. to this effect it would be very greatly appreciated - the fact that the bee that this page is dedicated to is not a recognized subspecies yet may be somewhat supportive of that position, maybe. Bibby (talk) 21:20, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, update !
- I've just been told by a Commissioner of the ICZN, that although there are dissenting voices, the consensus amongst the Commissioners of the ICZN is that they are willing to accept that the A. m. pomonella is in fact a new subspecies, it appears the was initial doubts raised but these were not formalized at the time, so it appears that we now (officially) have a new honey bee subspecies.
