Following the previous removal of attempted humour with regards to Sir Iam McKellen, this text wriiten by a user who also vandalised another wiki article was also removed.

I removed the following statement:

  • As of June 2005, it is rumoured that he has been dating well known English actor Sir Ian McKellen, with the two being spotted at many events together. [citation needed]They first met when McKellen made a guest stint on Coronation Street.

It is neither current information nor referenced. Further, I believe that Cotton is engaged to his boyfriend and they plan to enter into a Civil Partnership later this year.

Cotton and McKellen are both patrons of The Lesbian & Gay Foundation and were backing their "Enough is Enough! Action Against Homophobia Campaign" last year.[1] But I don't know about 2005, probably the same thing. –anemoneprojectors10:24, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Odd bit

[edit]

where both Jamelia and Richards took a note of what song they play and they each got it correct.

This feels a bit odd. I don't know the context, so can someone else change it ! ThisIsAce 20:33, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of performed songs

[edit]

Why do we need a list of songs performed? This is not a fan page for Antony. It is a encyclopedic page. If you must put them up, why not put the songs performed on the respective shows they were sung on "The Antony Cotton Show" and Soapstar Superstar. Then Again you'd have to put the songs everyone sang for SS. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.90.207.142 (talk) 17:36, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sexuality

[edit]

Hi, there is nothing in the article that supports the cat LGBT people, as per - Wikipedia:Categorization/Ethnicity, gender, religion and sexuality is there some support for it? Off2riorob (talk) 20:31, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Will this do? –anemoneprojectors23:10, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps it will, if a small comment is added to the body of the article with attribution to the Mirror I could accept it as a minimum - if another report of the same story is citable that would be stronger but thanks for finding that one. Off2riorob (talk) 14:41, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In March 2010 the Daily Mirror reported that Cotton had exchanged rings with his male partner in a celebration of their love.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2010/03/08/coronation-street-star-antony-cotton-weds-lover-115875-22094764/|title=Coronation Street star Antony Cotton 'weds' lover|publisher=The Daily Mirror|date=March 8, 2010|accessdate=April 23, 2011}}</ref>

I'm honestly surprised I can't find that much. Because his character is gay, most of the news articles I can find are about the character! But there's this on Digital Spy as well. –anemoneprojectors19:14, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I was speaking to some people yesterday that disputed he was gay at all and referred to interviews where he had rejected the claim. ...none of which is cited - I did a search yesterday and couldn't find confirmation but you seem to be doing a bit better google foo than me. I get the feeling he has kept his private life quite private, as far as self declaration goes I don't think we are going to find it at this time. The digital spy appears to be a report of the mirror story ... its a weak claim .. definitely too weak for adding the the cats at present ... so all we have is this comment attributed to the Mirror ... perhaps a bit more weight can be google ffo..d over the next couple of days .. as a last resort we could share the responsibility and ask for opinions at the BLPN. Off2riorob (talk) 19:33, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's amazing, even this news article doesn't mention that he's gay (or not). Oh but I found something that says he is openly gay! –anemoneprojectors21:06, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I know it is amazing, I think from what I have seen the lack of reliable detail is a reflection of his desire to keep his private life private. - In August 2009 Daniel Kilkelly reported in an article in the Digital Spy that Cotton was "openly gay".<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s3/coronation-street/news/a171526/corrie-actor-wants-more-gay-characters.html#|title=Corrie actor wants more gay characters|publisher=[[Digital Spy]]|date=August 14, 2009|accessdate=April 24, 2011}}</ref> and in March 2010 the Daily Mirror reported that Cotton had exchanged rings with his male partner in a celebration of their love.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2010/03/08/coronation-street-star-antony-cotton-weds-lover-115875-22094764/|title=Coronation Street star Antony Cotton 'weds' lover|publisher=The Daily Mirror|date=March 8, 2010|accessdate=April 23, 2011}}</ref>
