1983 Erice Conference on Nuclear War

[edit]

Zichichi is being quoted/credited in various media for his opening speech at the 1983 conference, in which he referred to "the fool", a personality that might be foolish enough to provoke a nuclear war. This speech is probably to be found in the book containing the proceedings of the conference, named "The Technical Basis for Peace." I cannot access a copy of the book, so cannot update this article with proper quotes & references. If anyone can locate the book or other source, I'd like to find the full text of this speech and quote some of it in this article. Solviva (talk) 06:45, 11 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Long Lost Relative learns of his connection to Antonino Zichichi while traveling in Ireland?

[edit]

While on vacation in Ireland (October 2016), staying at the Waterford Castle, my wife was having a drink with our friends at the hotel lounge and when she proceeded to pay the bill, the Master Bartender, Illario, told her that when he saw the name "Zichichi" on the hotel guest list he just had to make an introduction. Going to find out, he told us that Zichichi is a famous name in Sicily and that Antinino Zichichi was a prominent physicist from a neighboring town outside of Palarmo, called Thrapani. I told him my 96 year old Father's family was also from Thrapani and that Joseph Zichichi was my grandfather. Illario showed us numerous pictures and articles about Antinino and the Palermo area, since I mentioned we were planning on visiting there in 2017.

I have since tried on several occasions to make contact with Antinino, through the University of Barcelona, however, being such a public figure and all, no one from the university responded or provided a lead as to how to reach him. It is my feeling that he and my Father are perhaps cousins, and would like to see if that is in fact true. I would like to understand the connection and trace some of my heritage through this connection - - Can anyone help or provide a lead24.151.115.22 (talk) 14:14, 16 December 2016 (UTC)VJZ?[reply]
