Pravda?

Year of death

[edit]

Sources used in the article mention year 1978 as a year of death, sources used in other language article versions (eg. Russian) mention either 1978, or 1979. None of these sources is of quality I would consider a reliable source.

"Executioner"

[edit]

Makarova was not an "executioner" (see the definition in the article). An executioner carries out capital punishments. But the people they killed, never faced a trial. There was no penalty, that had to be executed. She was nothing more than just a cheap, dirty murderer. Marcus Cyron (talk) 20:42, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I concur; she was a mass-murderess, that's is beyond discussion. "Execution", however, is a figure of speech to refer to a killing (a murder in this case) carried out under legal orders of an authority (legitime or not); this is the way cited sources deal with Makarova misdeeds. That said, the best course of action to take is to remove from the article any reference to "execution" or "executioner" given its hateful ambiguity. Otherwise, we are condoning the war criminals excuse that they were just following orders (though it was not the case of Makarova, a volunteer). Regards.
