French chateau, etc

[edit]

Château de la Motte-Basse is in Brittany according to the biography and the French Wikipedia article. Your source places it on the map in a different location. Any idea how to resolve it? --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 01:52, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I think you're wrong. It looks like there are two chateaux with a similar name in Britanny. The two villages are not in the same department. Unless you can find a reference with the location of the specific village, I think you're wrong.Zigzig20s (talk) 01:56, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Delink mine ... the two words for the placename are switched in mine. Switch to your version of the name.
See "Château de la Basse-Mothe, du xixe siècle".Zigzig20s (talk) 01:59, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's an easy mistake. Many chateaux have similar names in France for some reason. (Sometimes, the name is exactly the same!)Zigzig20s (talk) 02:02, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ): Added some info about her saving Confederate personnel, based on this. I find the newspaper article badly written frankly--would you rephrase the way I summed up her valorous act, or do you think it's fine?Zigzig20s (talk) 14:04, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Looks fine, I uploaded that newspaper page to Wiki Commons so that we can have the image of her linked. I think you should move the article into mainspace so everyone can enjoy it. Do you ever look at the page counter to see how many hits your articles get? I am amazed if even one, non editor person, looks at something I created, I always assume I am the only person with an interest. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 17:27, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ):I'd like to see if I can find a bit more about her equestrian prizes on newspapers.com tonight. Then I'll move it. Yes, your articles are great. I often read them and learn a lot. Bear in mind they are probably the first google hit about said subject, so there is no doubt you are widely read. I especially like the polo players. Btw, may I trim the long quotes you added to the references please?Zigzig20s (talk) 19:21, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, trim away ... you set the style for your articles, I am just a guest. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 01:14, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Vanleer or Van Leer?

[edit]

Newspaper articles and books use both spellings.Zigzig20s (talk) 17:33, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
