  • ... that Nadia Fink (pictured) sought to oppose Disney Princesses and Barbie dolls by writing the Anti-Princess Series? Source: Smink 2015: "Fink admits that the intention of this new series was to stand up to the classic models that girls admire: Barbie and the Disney princesses." ("Fink admite que la intención de esta nueva colección fue hacerle frente a los modelos clásicos que admiran las niñas: Barbie y las princesas de Disney.")
    • ALT1:... that although Nadia Fink (pictured) originally deemed poet Alfonsina Storni's life "too tragic" for inclusion in her Anti-Princess picture books, she later released one about Storni nonetheless? Source: Smink 2015: "Some of the women considered, such as the Argentine poets Alfonsina Storni and Alejandra Pizarnik, had lives "too tragic" to recount to a child audience." ("Algunas de las mujeres consideradas, como las poetisas argentinas Alfonsina Storni y Alejandra Pizarnik, tuvieron vidas "demasiado trágicas" como para contar a un público infantil.") Hormilla 2020: "Placing women such as Frida Kahlo, Violeta Parra, Juana Azurduy, Alfonsina Storni, and many others who are part of the historical tradition of our continent as protagonists of these children's stories, is an example of how to defend the regional against the global."

Interesting series, on good sources, Spanish sources accepted AGF, no copyvio obvious. - Having said that, I see several problems. Nadia Fink should have an article. (No chance she'd be pictured without an article.) We should probably say "Argentinian" or "in Spanish", given that German-sounding name. I think we should mention the illustrations. I believe the first hook is saying almost nothing (unexpected), and the second deviates too far from the series aspect. - The image is licensed and attractive, so I hope for an article about the author which could be short. Thoughts, Bobamnertiopsis? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:03, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Gerda Arendt. It's been a busy week but I'm going to try to craft an article on Fink this weekend. Will let you know when that's done. —Collint c 00:46, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Alright! Created and am also nominating Nadia Fink for consideration here (I still need to complete a QPQ for it). I've struck ALT0 and ALT1 in favor of ALT2 which I think is more tantalizing, unexpected, and focused on the series. Let me know what you think, Gerda Arendt. Kindly —Collint c 20:55, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, thank you, Collin. (Call me Gerda ;) ) I'm busy tonight, how is this, you do your qpq and I get back to reviewing the author. ALT2 is fine, but I don't think we need all these links to rather common terms, - just not common to children. I also think name dictator OR tyrant. (And IF links, no redirects please.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:20, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Second qpq reviewed! —Collint c 05:13, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
both books and author! Thank you! Author: interesting life, on fine sources, Portuguese and Spanish accepted AGF, the image is great and licensed. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:09, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lead

[edit]

Mention Frida Kahlo and Violeta Parra as examples.

F&C

[edit]

"Several crossover works published as the League of Anti-Princesses follow characters from previous Anti-Princess books using a time travel potion to join forces and, for instance, fight together in historical battles" → "Several crossover works have been published; the League of Anti-Princesses follow characters from previous Anti-Princess books using a time travel potion to explore history together."

Writing

[edit]

"an Argentine writer for the magazine Sudestada" - Unnescary, per her own article.

  • I'd mentioned Sudestada here because it becomes relevant in the Publication section as a copublisher of the first three books, but I'll transfer that mention down there instead.  Done. —Collint c 22:29, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Fink took an assignment at Sudestada that allowed her to spend time researching Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and Chilean singer-songwriter Violeta Parra, who would respectively become the subjects of the series's first and second volumes" → "Following a period of research, Fink begun the first two volumes, that concerned Frida Kahlo and Violeta Parra, respectively".

Ok.

"She said that she desired to" → "She desired to"

Reception

[edit]

"Rosangela Fernandes Eleutério, a researcher in Brazil, said that the Anti-Hero Series covering men who were sensitive and sweet served to productively undermine traditional stereotypes of masculine emotionlessness.[5]" - This seems more fitting for "Writing".

Source Review & Spotchecks

[edit]

All the sources are reliable, per GA criteria.

"The books respond to common tropes in princess stories/fairytales; for instance, the Violeta Parra edition explains that when Parra lacked the fashionable clothes required to perform, no fairy godmother appeared to come to her aid, and instead, her mother sewed her a skirt from a curtain." – I can't seem to find this supported by the citation.

See the third and fourth paragraphs in the article's "Anti-Disney, anti-Barbie" section (ref 4, Smink 2015). —Collint c 22:46, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, thank you. DMT biscuit (talk) 22:58, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Bobamnertiopsis: That should be all my comments - resolve the outstanding qualms and the article will pass. DMT biscuit (talk) 17:05, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks DMT biscuit, I appreciate the review! I've never had a GA nom be the oldest outstanding unreviewed one before so thanks for having the courage to take it up. I'll work on these shortly. Kindly —Collint c 18:04, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
