Ambiguous description of remarks from Susan Sarandon

[edit]

Currently the article's mention of Susan's remarks may deliver a different message than intended: "and reflected that due to the rising antisemitism many Jewish people 'are getting a taste of being Muslim in the United States'."

It would be more beneficial to have the full quote from her: “There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country, so often subjected to violence,”

The intended message in her remarks is likely meant to equate anti-semitism to islamophobia, however the original cut of the quote can be misconstrued as her suggesting that Jewish people are deserving of the hate, if true it would require more evidence to support that. 10 March today, and the quote is now even shorter and more pointedly bullshit. Thanks, Israpedia! 184.147.148.233 (talk) 16:33, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Apologies for the long response time on this. I think both ways are mostly fine, but agree that the addition of what she said before and after that comment may change how it is read, so have included the longer quotation. Lewisguile (talk) 09:17, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
