I have edited the description of the tackle that caused Anthony Phillips gruesome leg injury in 1995. The previous edit stated that Jim Kelly tackled Phillips "out of bounds". I have seen multiple angles of video replays of the incident, and Phillips was clearly in bounds running at full speed along the Buffalo side line when Kelly tackled him by a desperate full speed dive. Kelly apologized not for tackling Phillips "out of bounds", which did not happen, but due to inadvertently spearing Phillips legs while diving at Phillips from the side to make the only tackle he could make. There are plenty of videos of the play available on YouTube for anyone to easily verify this. I think the original author misstated "out of bounds" due to the fact that after Phillips came down on his leg, he ended up out of bounds right at the edge of the sideline. Most seasoned NFL football fans would say that Kelly made the only tackle that he was capable of making in the circumstance. If Kelly had not dived at Phillips, he would never have stopped Phillips from reaching the end zone.67.7.18.63 (talk) 21:09, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
