Article name

[edit]

The article was moved without discussion. I have reverted to the original name for the following reasons:

  1. The move was made without discussion and consensus.
  2. We have another article about a British soldier called Anthony Palmer and so the obvious name is taken.
  3. The original name was chosen in consideration of this fact and the advice of WP:NAME.
  4. The name Lieutenant-General Anthony Palmer is the usage of the sources during the subject's period of notability and so follows the good practise of being what our readers will use and expect.
  5. The proposed alternative of Anthony Palmer (general) was created with an edit summary indicating that ranks should not be used. This seems incorrect since ranks are used in some article titles. The alternative title also indicates the rank but in a vaguer way and is potentially misleading in that it suggests that the subject attained the rank of full General.
  6. The subject has retired and so we may reasonably expect that they will not be further promoted to a different rank.
  7. The title Lieutenant-General Anthony Palmer is most useful in other templates such as the find below.
