Fluorescent Chemosensors Book Cover
[edit]Hello, Indefensible, Browssobs or to whom it may concern.
- I found that the image from the uploaded Fluorescent Chemosensors Book Cover was removed a while ago, so I contacted the ACS Copyrights Division (the owners of the image) and asked for permission to release the copyrights for public use. They sent me a letter where they allowed Wikipedia to use the image via a CC-BY-NC-ND license. I know the WP rules that generally I can't upload and edit my own page, so I'd ask you to help with this matter. I'm not aware of any copyrights release process and whether the above mentioned license is sufficient to meet Wikipedia requirements. I'd highly appreciate it if you can help me to complete this process. Here are the links to the image and book publication:

P/S: I have the letter with the contacts of Eric. S. Slater, Esq. (Senior Manager at the American Chemical Society) if it is necessary to contact him.— Preceding unsigned comment added by AWCzarnik (talk • contribs) 04:20, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
- I’ve responded to this already at WP:MCQ#Book cover for Anthony Czarnik, but the answer is basically no unless the cover is released under an acceptable free license by its copyright holder. This essentially means that the copyright holder agrees to allow anyone anywhere in the world to down load the book cover image at anytime and use for any purpose, including commercial and derivative uses. NC and ND Creative Commons licenses aren’t free enough for Wikipedia’s purposes which means that any such cover would need to be treated s non-free content. Just from looking at the article, there seems to be no way to justify the use of any non-free book covers per Wikipedia’s non-free content use policy (see WP:NFC#cite_note-3 for details). Instead images of book covers, it would seem better to focus obtaining a free image of the subject of the article for use in the main infobox. Perhaps the subject of the article can provide one for use? — Marchjuly (talk) 03:18, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
