Annuitant

[edit]

I contend the opening of the Annuitant article is at best misleading, and could be considered entirely incorrect. It currently reads: An annuitant is a person who is entitled to receive benefits from an annuity. The payout benefits for an annuitant are based on the person's life expectancy.

In actuality, the annuitant is the person whose life, when ended, triggers payments to the beneficiaries of the annuity. A more correct opening could be:

An annuitant is the person whose death triggers the death benefit payout from an annuity contract. The annuity beneficiary is the person who receives the annuity's death benefit. The annuitant and beneficiary cannot be the same person. WikiBlackledge (talk) 02:40, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
