I'll take this. I'll have it to you ASAP JAGUAR  22:05, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the wait. I'll definitely complete this tomorrow JAGUAR  22:54, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Initial comments

[edit]
  • "The plot centers" - centres, if this article uses Indian English
  • "Cinematographer V. Manikandan abandoned the project partway through; he was replaced with Ravi Varman" - 'partway' sounds vague, did he abandon it halfway through? And the latter half of the sentence could read better as ...through, until he was replaced with Ravi Varman
  • "making it at the time of its release the costliest South Indian film ever made" - most expensive
  • "Notably, it was the first South Indian film" - South India should be linked here (at its first mention) rather than later in the lead
  • "Further, the film was also dubbed into French and released in French-speaking countries" - if you want to be nifty, link Francophone nations and territories! (optional)
  • "if he'll end up being good or bad."" - full stop after quotation
  • "The utsavam is a week-long music festival" - does Utsavam need to be capitalised?
  • "About a dozen stuntmen crashed down from the balcony injuring themselves badly" - About a dozen stuntmen crashed down from the balcony, injuring themselves severely
  • "In the narrative, Ambi is referred to the website, www.anniyan.com." - the website name is formatted incorrectly! I think Wikipedia thinks it's trying to link itself. Try using the "nowiki" template to fix it? Nevermind! I tried using the "nowiki" template and it messed everything up. It should be fine the way it is
  • " Meanwhile, the special effects for the time-slice sequence were rendered by Big Freeze, London" - Big Freeze in London
  • "Rating the film 2.5 out of 5 stars" - this could be removed from the reception section. Usually with film and other media article it's conventional to exclude scores from the prose and include them in a infobox
  • "but, as it happens in films directed by Shankar, the budget overshot" - sounds a little informal. Try as common in films directed by Shankar?
Except for the rating issue, i've resolved all your comments. I just wanted to offer some help. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 16:51, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just a few comments regarding some of the comments just above:
  • Regarding the second bulleted item, I don't agree with changing the semi-colon to "..., until". That suggests that V. Manikandan worked until his replacement was hired, which I don't believe was the case. He left when he had to leave.
  • Regarding the second bulleted item, I saw "costliest" but did not change it to "most expensive". I figured it was written by an Indian writer, so reflected Indian English usage. It is not incorrect.
  • Regarding the sixth bulleted item, this is simply incorrect. If you read MOS:LQ, you will see that if what precedes the final quotation marks is a complete sentence, the final quotation marks go outside the period, or full stop.
  • Regarding the eighth bulleted item, "injuring themselves badly" is fine. There is no need to change "badly" to "severely". One should only use "severely" if all the stuntmen were, in fact, injured severely. "Badly" covers a range of serious injuries.
  • Regarding the eleventh bulleted item, I agree that this needs improvement (it was not in the article when I worked on it): "but, as it happens in films directed by Shankar, the budget overshot". I would change it to: "...but, as often happens with films directed by Shankar, the budget was overshot." Corinne (talk) 21:04, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Corinne: Thank you very much for the suggestions, Corinne. Jaguar, I have resolved the remaining comments. A note of thanks to Pavan for his timely help. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 02:03, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is a great article, well done on all the work! Too bad they didn't dub this into English (but they did in French for some reason)? The references are all good, and the only concerns I could find were minor prose issues. Once all of the above are clarified then this should be good to go. Sounds like a good film! Thank you both for addressing them, Ssven and Pavan! This now meets the GA criteria, well done. JAGUAR  16:08, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
