Someone Misunderstood a Citation
[edit]The idea that annexins are involved in the pinching off process has NOT been tested, as per the citation: "It is an interesting, but unexplored, possibility that the bivalent activity of annexins might be involved in closing of the neck of the matrix vesicle, or other bleb structure, as it pinches off from the cell." It is interesting, and would be very cool, but it should be removed from the page until it's proven (or if it has been since 2005, a new citation should be produced). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.135.100.102 (talk) 03:30, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Typos: phosolipids —> phospholipids
[edit]I have corrected a very strange word, that I think is likely a typo error. To the best of my knowledge, phosolipids should be replaced by phospholipids. I could not find any trace of phosolipids in the literature. A Google search provides 172 occurrence of phosolipids versus more than 2 millions for phospholipids. I think it is an error. I hope it is not a neologism with a contraction between phospholipids and liposome, or something like that. Shinkolobwe (talk) 17:07, 30 January 2009 (UTC).
Intro
[edit]The introduction says that annexins inhibit PLA2 and this is _the_ mechanism by which glucocorticoids repress inflammation... Glucocorticoid receptors also repress NFkB activity and thus inflammatory cytokine synthesis by competing for the DNA binding sites. I dont feel like looking up a source right now so thats why Im just putting it here. Repapetilto (talk) 04:09, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Opening Sentence regarding 'Kingdoms'
[edit]"They are found in all kingdoms (animal, plant and fungi) with the exception of the bacteria."
The kingdom concept is used confusingly here, it seems to suggest a four kingdom model and ignores the Archae; if this is an intentional phylogenetic claim then it is controversial and would be widely unsupported, more likely this is just a confusion of the kingdom taxonomic grouping. - I'm also a bit confused by this statment as well. A quick search on Pfam tells me that there are 3 known examples in bacteria. Perhaps this statemnet should be removed as inacurate and replaced with something like Current research shows that they are more common across eukaryotes but there are some isolated examples within bacteria. - Agree. I tried a simpler sentence. Remains unsourced though, but the link to Pfam is available in the article. Miguel Andrade (talk) 14:57, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Removed statment
[edit]There was a statement that read: So far eight annexins have been reported in Arabidopsis and nine in rice. I've removed it because although it's true, it's also misleading as there as there are many examples beyond the afforementioned two. Abergabe (talk) 12:37, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
