His name?

[edit]

Is there a standard explanation for his name, one not normally assigned to males? --Orange Mike | Talk 04:30, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The much more famous Anne de Montmorency was a man who bore the same given name, as did many of his successors in the dukedom of Montmorency. FactStraight (talk) 18:16, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

DYK "Fact"

[edit]

The information that was given to the DYK in 2007 is wrong. His precedence was not just subordinate to Capetians. It was subordinate to that of any sovereign prince, so in the French peerage that includes the house of Valois, the house of Lorraine, the house of Savoie, the house of Gonzaga. See article now for references to this effect. sovietblobfish (talk) 06:38, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
