Confusing Information
[edit]The bit "At the time the company was in debt US$17.1 billion and held $154 million in cash" seems to have been written by someone who doesn't understand finance. The gap between debt and cash around 2001/2002 is about $17 billion as reported. Jan 2008 Xerox had total liabilities of $16.1 billion and cash of $0.9 billion, giving it a net difference of $15.2 billion. So the deficit from $17 to $15.2 is hardly remarkable. That is because cash held is of little consequence when it comes to paying back debt, it is operating profits. If you really want to think about cash, you should compare it to current liabilities rather than total liabilities.
