After a few years of simply editing articles, I thought I should try my hand and actually creating one afresh. Being a fellow surrounded by family who are nuts for musicals, I thought I’d create an article on a performer who’s been on and off broadway for a decade.
I have considered:
- Notability requirements — and I'm satisfied that given her extensive work across the US and the world, that she's notable; there's plenty of press and reviews too.
- I've managed to find good, reliable sources - Playbill, IMDB, New York Times, Variety as well as local newspapers when relevant, such as the Wichita Eagle.
I worked on the article in my sandbox for a while, then (forgive me if this is wrong!) imitated the structure of some good articles in the category of a biography of a living person in the musical theatre industry.
I followed the advice of @Robert McClenon: a longtime editor and part of Wikipedia_talk:Dispute_resolution_noticeboard DRN which was to reference everything and to stick closely to the format for articles on performers, which is to do a tabled lists of productions.
I ask other wikipedia editors to “be bold in editing in a fair and accurate manner with a straightforward, just-the-facts style.” I believe we're all looking for “an encyclopedic style with a formal tone.”Erasmus Sydney (talk) 04:02, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
