Calumny
[edit]Below, some German enemies of the Green Party and the German Foreign Minister write outhright slander or calumny. The accusal of a series of scandals and plagiarism without substantial proof belongs to this strategy. KristallograefIn (talk) 08:02, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- As non-sensical as that BS is, might as well be bots... but yes, obviously Russian based misinformation strategies. Wikipedia needs to be on high alert about this. Zwerg Nase (talk) 08:07, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
"Cobalt" / "kobold" mispronunciation relavant?
[edit]The article mentions AB's mispronunciation of cobalt as kobold, but the relevance of this incident remains obscure. I suggest to remove that sentence. Stardust canopy (talk) 11:10, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
- I agree, especially considering that no English-speaking sites covered the "news." If it had any sort of relevancy, at least some website would have mentioned it, but (at least from what I could google) no articles in English seem to have covered the matter. Felz1 (talk) 19:12, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
Removed it. Stardust canopy (talk) 13:22, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
- I have no idea what this was about, but I've been reading about "Kobolds" in German news everywhere and started to wonder. If this dies down again, I guess it's fine to keep it out - it's not particular encyclopedic, but at least in one person (me) it lead to confusion and an entry at Wikipedia would have been helpful 2A02:AA16:5680:B280:CE64:C95A:1662:967B (talk) 14:59, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- That specific incident isn't necessarily something that belong into Wikipedia on its own, but the slips of her tongue are somewhat legendary. In another occasion she said something about perishing Europe (verenden) instead of changing it (verändern). 88.76.132.251 (talk) 16:31, 14 November 2022 (UTC)

"Evangelical church" misleading
[edit]In the USA, evangelical Christians are an important force in politics, and at first glance I was shocked to read that Annalena Baerbock identifies as evangelical. In fact, she probably belongs to the Lutheran Church like many people in Northern Germany. They are very moderate and many members have become secularized. If she is indeed a member of the Lutheran Church within the union "Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland", then it would be better to use this term and avoid "evangelical" in English. In German she is "evangelisch" and not "evangelikal", but this distinction does not exist in English, I think. For example, there is no risk that she might believe the Earth to be roughly ten thousand years old, though the current wording may suggest just that. Aecur (talk) 05:21, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Aecur: I understand your concern. However, the church itself calls itself "Evangelical Church in Germany" (see their English language website for reference), so per WP:COMMONNAME, I think it will have to stand as it is. Also, the wikilink provides context. Zwerg Nase (talk) 08:32, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
- See Protestantism#Evangelical for the terms. I have slightly rewritten the sentence and hope it is clearer now. —Kusma (t·c) 08:58, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Kusma: I can live with that. Zwerg Nase (talk) 09:40, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Kusma: Thanks a lot. This way it is clearer. Aecur (talk) 12:32, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
- She frequently goes to church. I think it is wrong translation from ZEIT. She wanted to say, she stays in the church organisation. But this does not mean she goes frequently to the church service, also because she says, she is not believing. Regards--Buchbibliothek (talk) 16:34, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Buchbibliothek: Indeed. I have tried to improve the translation of this part. Church membership/non-membership in the sense of Kirchensteuer is a rather German concept. —Kusma (talk) 17:07, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
- Exactly. thanks.--Buchbibliothek (talk) 17:28, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

dissertation
[edit]According to German doctoral law, you cannot abandon a doctoral thesis. Once one has been admitted to the doctorate and withdraw it, you are considered to have failed.
2003:DA:9F36:8C28:21A:A0FF:FECC:2E9B (talk) 05:54, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
- There is no "German doctoral law", the rules are different even between different faculties at the same university. At all universities that I am aware of, if you don't submit a thesis, your Promotionsverfahren doesn't get started and so you can't fail it. —Kusma (t·c) 15:02, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

Candidate for the Greens
[edit]"She is also its candidate for Chancellor of Germany in the 2021 federal election, being considered the first such candidate for the Greens with a serious chance of winning this high office."
This is not quite correct. She is the first candidate for Chancellor of Germany that the Greens have ever presented. -- Discostu (talk) 14:55, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

gaffes
[edit]Where can we place gaffes? They are pretty frequent in Baerbock's speech and create seemingly relevant attention in articles, hashtags and memes.
- "Critics frequently point out gaffes in Baerbock's speech such as 'the liberal enemies of democracy'.[1][2]" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.238.219.56 (talk) 14:40, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

But I found a link from 30th June 2021 that shows her: https://web.archive.org/web/20210630053324/https://www.younggloballeaders.org/community/?q=baerbock This might need updating/correction.--88.71.161.95 (talk) 22:53, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
