Inconsistent date of colon cancer diagnosis?

"Halprin was diagnosed with colon cancer in 1972."
yet
in paragraph "Working with the terminally ill",
"In 1951, Halprin was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in her colon;".

In her latest book, Anna tells about being diagnosed in 1972 and then again 'three years after' her operation - probably in 1975. [edit]Folks, I understanding reverting reports of her death that were sourced only by a family member posting on behalf of the family on FB.
