Whoever put dismal comments about Sanjay Kapoor. He is as versatile as Anil Kapoor but has not beeen able to establish himself.Never mind that, critics and viewers both give him positive nods. --Yahoo 23:39, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Inclusion of Urdu
User:Zora and U-Company, Can you please explain the rationale behind the inclusion of urdu script in Anil Kapoor's biography.-Bharatveer 09:03, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Enough with the hints that I'm somehow connected to a Muslim underworld gang. When this issue first arose, years ago, I was against including any non-Roman script, Nastaliq or Devanagari. However, I was outvoted by editors who wanted to have both, as aids to pronunciation. They said that when South Asian names were written in the Roman alphabet, various clues to the proper pronunciation were lost. So, the script is not there as an ethnic identifier, it's for movie fans who want to know how to pronounce a word, name, or title. Bollywood movie fans include people who use both scripts, as is shown by film credits and advertising. Therefore we give the name in both forms, to help both sets of fans. Zora 10:13, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- This comment made by you in User:Anupam 's talkpage will show your double standards about the usage of scripts in wiki articles. -" For whatever it's worth, I'd suggest that you limit the supplementary Devanagari to material that is sold and advertised in India, and perhaps phrase it thus: "When appearing in India, or sold in India, rendered as XXX in Devanagari." That makes it very clear that you aren't attempting to claim the material for India, that you're just trying to reach out to Indian fans who might not be able to read the Urdu script. Take it slow and don't act as if you're a tank division heading for Islamabad! :) Zora 02:32, 1 November 2006 (UTC)-Bharatveer 11:35, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Bharatveer, you can discuss your removal of Perso-Arabic from Bollywood-realated articles at Talk:Bollywood if you would like as the situation involves a mass of Bollywood-related articles. The rationale for including both scripts of Hindi-Urdu is delineated there. Please continue the discussion there and do not revert any more articles until you discuss it there. Right now, the current policy is to use both scripts. Thanks for your understanding. Shanti, AnupamTalk 21:05, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Why are you taking this to bollywood article? It should be discussed here since this article is a Biography.Salaam.-Bharatveer 04:26, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply Bharatveer. It should be discussed on Talk:Bollywood because the only reason biographies exist of these individuals is because they are Bollywood actors/actresses. The discsussion there concerned all Bollywood related articles, including actors/actresses and you are bringing up questions on the current policy established there: It's okay and beneficial to have titles in both Devanagari and Perso-Arabic. We'll also be able to get others who are involved in the project to voice their opinions as well. I hope this helps. I'd also like to thank you for your constructive edits to several articles in which you added Devanagari. If you stop removing Perso-Arabic from these articles, you and I have a great potential to work together. Thanks for your understanding. AnupamTalk 04:37, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Actually, we should probably be discussing this at WikiProject Cinema of India, WP:INCINE, if Bharatveer is willing to discuss. As for possibly asymmetry between Pakistani bands/movies in Devanagari and Indian movies/actors/bands etc. in Nastaliq -- there are very very few people within Pakistan who use the Devanagari script, so any use of the script must necessarily be for the benefit of Indian fans. However, there is a large Muslim minority in India and Nastaliq could be useful to them as well as to the many millions of Pakistani film fans. IMHO, it's just plain good citizenship to make sure that Indian minorities aren't left out.
I do think it would help if we had a small "scripts" infobox that could be added at the top of the article, taking all the script out of the first sentence and putting it off to one side. Would be easier to read the articles.
There is no rule that Nastaliq, or Devanagari, MUST be there -- it's just that if one editor sees fit to add it, well, it's extra information and should be left. Of course if someone starts adding either script to Hollywood articles -- well, that seems a bit excessive and might be removed.
It's interesting that I live in the one state of the US where there are two official languages, English and Hawaiian. The official status of the latter is often ignored in practice. However, our state motto is still "Ua mau ke ea 'o ka 'aina i ka pono." Zora 05:34, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Ok;lets take it to wikiproject cinema , if you will. But my point is since these are biographies, they should be treated as per other Indian Biographies,i.e they should follow the wiki guidelines of indian biographies.-Bharatveer 07:28, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, can you show me where to find these supposed guidelines? They're not at WikiProject India, not at Manual of Style (biography), not at WP:BLP, etc. Zora 05:06, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Rewrite
I actually looked at the article and it was written in Hinglish, with lots of non-standard grammar and cricket slang (hat trick!). There was also lots of fangush and one commercial site linked. I put the article into standard English and toned down the gush. I also removed the Devanagari version of his name, pending some resolution of the script issue. Zora 05:00, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
I was reading this page of Anil Kapoor. It states he acted in Mani Ratnam's debut film Pallavi Anu Pallavi. This is a Kannada Movie and not Tamil
Virus?
My antivirus software detects a virus from the supposed "official website" -- a trojan. Can someone confirm this? evin290 (talk) 05:41, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

There's a fanboy feel to this article. Please see WP:PEACOCK for examples of puffery that are not appropriate for an encyclopedia article. BollyJeff || talk 13:19, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
There is still a bit too much of a fanboy spin on the article. Positive and negative criticism should be taken from third party sources. This means that the criticism cannot originate from the actor or from the person editing the page. If someone really likes an actor, singer, or movie, then they can create a fan group on Facebook or something. Wikipedia is supposed to be objective. Pathan
Anil Kapoor as well as Shammi Kapoor proudly claim to be Pathans.
- Anil Kapoor: "I'm a Pathan's son... my father, my grandfather they were all Pathans from Peshawar...." Dawn News, Talk Back: Eye On India (Interview with Anil Kapoor) Ep33 Pt1. Youtube link
- Shammi Kapoor: "I was born in Bombay... my parents belonged to Peshawar, they were born there then they entered Bombay... we all belong to a community called the Hindu Pathan... Muslim Pathan... I was born in Bombay...." Phone Interview with Shammi Kapoor 20/10/07. Youtube link
User:Saladin1987 fraudulently removed the Dawn News, Talk Back: Eye On India (Interview with Anil Kapoor) Ep33 Pt1. [1] and inserted this unverified POV: "He is a Hindko Punjabi by ethnicity".--Fareed30 (talk) 16:08, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XKUn-tMC8w#at=24 in this source daughter states that they are punjabi, u cant be a punjabi and pathan together at the same time. they were punjabis with pathan cullture adopted as he was talking about moustaches and he said moustaches are pathani peshwary thing. peshwaris are not pathans but hindko peopleSaladin1987 14:15, 20 September 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saladin1987 (talk • contribs)
- This article is exclusively about Anil Kapoor, not about his daughter. People all around the world grow moustache and not all Pathans grow moustache. Anil clearly said that he is son of a Pathan from Peshawar, which is the cultural center of Pathans. Hindko-speaking people who live in Peshawar are a tiny minority group and are counted among Pathans. Anil is a Punjabi-speaking [2] Indian, but his father was Pathan from Peshawar and so was his grandfather. There's no reason why we shouldn't mention this in this article.
- Btw, his daughter (Sonam Kapoor) did not state that they are Punjabi, she just stated "I'm Punjabi" but didn't mention ethnicity or anything else. If she lives in India, particularly in Punjab, or is married to a Punjabi, then it's obvious that she would say something like that.--Fareed30 (talk) 17:40, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- And how did she then become Punjabi if her parents are not? BTW- shes not marries either.Lihaas (talk) 19:01, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- Cultural assimilation. "Punjabi" has never been an ethnicity, it refers to Punjabi culture. I didn't say she's married. Karisma Kapoor married a Punjabi man in 2003 and recently she stated that she likes certain types of fried food because she's Punjabi. It would be normal for someone to say that, but again, she also didn't refer to "ethnicity" but culture because Punjabis love fried food. Ethnicity and culture are not the same thing but many people don't understand this. Ethnicity relates to tracing history.--Fareed30 (talk) 01:05, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Anil kapoor just said that his moustache are pathani peshwary thing that is cultural thing . by living in peshwar if someone is pathan then a bengali shoudl live in peshwar and become a pathan. The thing is hindko people have two classes one is is the hindko of pashtun origins other hindko of punjabi origins, in anil kapoor he is Hindko with punjabi origins. As he is khatri , i wil post more links as i come home. Do reply on the links of Prithviraj kapoor by the way, i have already told admin about your edits and stop reverting until we come on a consencus in this articleSaladin1987 00:35, 21 September 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saladin1987 (talk • contribs)
Lead section
The lead section is much too detailed, and it is partly word-for-word identical with text further down in the article. That needs to be remedied but it will take some effort. --bonadea contributions talk 06:45, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
