Copyright problem
This article has been reverted by a bot to this version as part of a large-scale clean-up project of multiple article copyright infringement. (See the investigation subpage) This has been done to remove User:Accotink2's contributions as they have a history of extensive copyright violation and so it is assumed that all of their major contributions are copyright violations. Earlier text must not be restored, unless it can be verified to be free of infringement. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions must be deleted. Contributors may use sources as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences or phrases. Accordingly, the material may be rewritten, but only if it does not infringe on the copyright of the original or plagiarize from that source. Please see our guideline on non-free text for how to properly implement limited quotations of copyrighted text. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously. Reaction to knighthood
"A knighthood was granted in 1980, prompting many hostile comments in the press."
Are there any references for this? Or at least an explanation as to the basis for the hostility? Tsuguya (talk) 10:45, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
Can I second this comment? The reference to hostility needs to be sourced/explained or removed. The entire entry on Wilson is feeble and needs expansion. Sadly I don't have the skill/knowledge to do it, but I know he's a more important writer than you'd get from this, tho his reputation has suffered a considerable knockback. One of those writers who's ripe for a revival. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.102.39.201 (talk) 15:49, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- The user who added the 'hostile' bit, and indeed wrote much of the article, is User:Xanthoxyl, who hasn't been active since September 2009. I shall leave a note on their talk page; if there's no reply soon, we can delete it. Rothorpe (talk) 00:45, 8 November 2010 (UTC] - The hostility would surely have been because Wilson was openly gay, given Britain's homophobic tabloid press.
- I don't have a copy of Drabble's biography and so I can't provide a reference, but you can delete the remark for now as it's not that important (considering the shortness of the article). Xanthoxyl < 07:55, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
