Meaning
In the article, it mentions that Angus has a Gaelic name as well, but it says nothing about a meaning of either word. Is there one, or is it only a name?--Akako|☎ 18:22, 15 October 2005 (UTC)
County, unitary authority and district
The maps in the info boxes suggest that county and unitary authority cover slightly different areas. Whether this is so is not clear from the text of the article. Also, in Regions of Scotland the article is linked concerning the local government district called Angus, but there seems to be nothing in the article about the district. Barry Buddon
Is Barry Budden notable enough to deserve a Wikipedia article? I note that it is said to be "the UK's busiest light weaponry live firing range and covers 930 hectares of land and foreshore. There is also a sea danger area of comparable size to the east of the links."
Please see WP:NOTABILITY. Ta. --Mais oui! 06:40, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Well, Barry Budden isn't. Barry Buddon might be though since there is more to it than the firing range: it is also an SSSI. -- Derek Ross | Talk 07:01, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Mea Culpa :)
- But in my defence: the mis-spelling Googles very well!! (479 hits versus 2460 for the correct spelling.) I picked it up from the Robert Gordon's College article, so I presume that this is a common mistake. Needs a redirect when article started. --Mais oui! 07:15, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- <Grin>, fair enough. -- Derek Ross | Talk 07:30, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
I'd say that depends on how many different kinds of firing ranges the UK military has. If this is an extra-ordinarily large & busy /important light weapons firing range, then yes, I'd say so. That is to say, if it is a particularly notable firing range, then yes, it's notable enough. File:Icons-flag-scotland.png Canæn File:Icons-flag-scotland.png 08:23, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- To clarify, I don't think that the area is particularly notable for its firing range. However it is notable enough for its SSSI (as a result of its dune habitats and landforms, vascular plants, bryophytes, invertebrates and breeding birds according to [1]). -- Derek Ross | Talk 23:09, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Thought
- It might be the case - in Wikipedia - that while any specific 'thing' might not be 'worthy' of its own article - there might be some worth in - for example - creating a gazetteer type page for Angus (and other counties) where any 'un-worthy' topic could find a home. I'm thinking something like 'Places and place names of Angus' that might include a sub-section on the whole of Barry Buddon rather than one aspect WikiWriter (talk) 15:50, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
