Etymology is wrong

[edit]

Anatoly Liberman's An Analytical Dictionary of English Dictionary: An Introduction has 4 pages on the etymology of this word. "Slowness" is a folk etymology. See wikt:slowworm. DCDuring (talk) 05:05, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Taxonomy

[edit]

The taxonomy of this genus is confused and currently under review: I don't have the time to detail exactly what the state of things is now, but added a note below the classification section, as someone had previously listed "Anguis graeca" under the extant species (which may be correct). Merge Proposal

[edit]

I propose merging Anguis into Slow worm.

Anguis is a genus, though and Slow worm is a species within that genus. I don’t believe it would make sense to merge the two TheSchollyist (talk) 15:05, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
