After leaving the southwestern end of Lake Baikal near the settlement of Listvyanka, it flows north past the cities of Irkutsk and Bratsk, then turns west after receiving the Ilim River and flows into the Yenisei near Strelka.
Below its junction with the Ilim River the Angara is also known as the Upper Tunguska ([Верхняя Тунгуска, Verkhnyaya Tunguska] Error: {{Langx}}: text has italic markup (help)). The Angara is navigable between Irkutsk and Bratsk; below Bratsk there are many rapids. Angara River, southeast-central Russia
