This article is in Surveillence category. Does it really have anything todo with surveillance? Seems more about stealth stuff...

The stuff about decibels seems inaccurate. A 10 dB decrease is a 50% decrease in volume, and 20 dB is 75% decrease. but i don't want to change it since i don't know for sure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.66.246.43 (talk) 23:32, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're wrong : 10dB decrease between power P1 and P2 means 10log(P1/P2)=10, that's to say P1/P2=10, which corresponds to a reduction to 10% of initial power. Similarly, 20dB decrease means 10log(P1/P2)=20, i.e. P1/P2=100, then a reduction to 1%. -- added by isambert - at - crans - dot - org ; 23/02/2009

San Juan not the first US boat to get tiles

[edit]

With all due respect to Stan Zimmerman, USS Batfish (SSN-681) received the tiles (called SHT or special hull treatment) during a non-refueling overhaul between March 1 and 1979-June 6, 1980 well before the Zimmerman's stated date for the San Juan of mid-80's.
