Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... Andy Warpigs is a relevant independent artist, he is known throughout Phoenix and beyond for his collaborations and for finding touring artists places to perform and stay. Anyone remotely interested in Phoenix, Arizona's independent music scene would want to know Who Andy Warpigs is and Why he is everywhere out there. He has been on the radio, featured in print media, and blogs. Here is a list of media blurbs listed on his Reverbnation page (https://www.reverbnation.com/andywarpigs/press)-
“While most Valley folk were drinking it up while counting down the hours until 2014 dawned, the members of the Fifth Street creative scene were hanging out at the the '90s-themed New Year's Eve Flannel Ball and Art Show at Lawn Gnome Publishing and the 909 Housing Collective. The artsy event offered music from Andy Warpigs, Sister Lip, Wolvves, and others, as well as works by such artists as Sierra Joy, Casebeer, J.J. Horner, Brandon Huigens, and Tara Logsdon.” Benjamin Leatherman - Phoenix New Times
“Andy Warpigs tells an all-too-familiar kind of story with his song "Love Is Like a Stabbing Pain in the Dick," specifically, the story of love that wasn't meant to be. It's about a boy telling the girl of his dreams that he loves her and finding out that it's unrequited. For some, those moments can hurt their pride, while for others, such a thing can feel like someone pulled out your heart and stomped on it. For Andy Warpigs, said moments feel as though someone "stuck it in (his penis), and broke it off on both ends." Yikes. But as with many lovesick songwriters, in the end he was still in love.” Jeff Moses - Phoenix New Times
“Andy Warpigs video for "Drown My Baby," off his debut album, Folk Punk Yourself, was filmed and directed by the local rapper Hot Rock Supa Joint and premiered earlier this week. It's a spastic, comedic romp that features shots of someone who we can only assume is Warpigs' girlfriend (in the context of the music video, at least) going on a rampage while withdrawing from drugs, including drowning a baby and butchering a cat. In between all the clips of infanticide and catricide are clips of Warpigs playing with his backing band and walking around a trailer park, which seems oddly appropriate. Though we obviously don't endorse such acts of foul play, which are presented in gonzo fashion, the music video is crazy and goofy and matches the manic energy of Warpigs' music.” Jeff Moses - Phoenix New Times
“Warpigs mixes absurd lyrics and silly stage antics with the look of a homeless meth-addict cowboy, and it all adds up to a great show. His eccentricity even has gained the onetime solo artist a respectable backing band, featuring Jelly Roll Jenkin (a.k.a. Jorge Garcia, formerly of Los Fukn Ramirez), Jackson Bollocks of Nerdzerkr, and Justin White, formerly of Andrew Jackson Jihad. When asked whether Andy Warpigs is the name of his solo act or the entire band, Warpigs says it's both: "It's the same crap that Alice Cooper has been pulling for decades." The musician is unapologetic about his appearance and his music. "I'm not overly concerned about anyone who finds my music offensive," Warpigs says. "Fuck them."” New Times - Phoenix New Times
“Torn jeans, Chuck Taylor's and grunge band T-shirts might be the outfit to wear if you're planning to attend the '90s-themed New Year's Eve Flannel Ball and Art Show, which will offer music from Andy Warpigs, Bacchus, Sister Lip, and Wolvves. A slew of local artists will also show off their works, including Sierra Joy, Morgan McNally, Aaron Hopkins-Johnson, Casebeer, J.J. Horner, Brandon Huigens, Tara Logsdon, and others.” Benjamin Leatherman - Phoenix New Times
“Singer Andy Warpigs performs with his band on the deck of Black and Blue Vintage during the First Friday A.R.T.S. Market in Phoenix on Feb. 7, 2014.” Erin O'Connor - azcentral.com
““It was really anti-commercial the way we produced this, which kind of goes with the theme of the record.” As his album gains traction, with “Drown My Baby” receiving over 500 views within a week on Youtube, Warpigs is continuing with his normal appearances around the Valley–from Funny World to Long Wong’s in Tempe–practicing his true passion and sharing it with others. “What I’m trying to accomplish is I’m trying to say things that other people don’t or can’t say, even though the things I’m saying are ridiculous sometimes,” Warpigs said. “I pissed off a couple people, but music isn’t supposed to be this elitist thing, it should inspire people.”” Becky Brisley - ValleyHype.com
"West Phoenix's Andy Warpigs is on a one-man folk-punk mission to infiltrate and influence every pocket of Arizona counterculture, and the out-of-control coffeehouse cowboy might just be succeeding. " Jeff Moses - Phoenix New Times
