Proposed notes
[edit]Dr. Daniel arranges to have lunch with Maggie. At lunch he explains to her a woman must be connected to his android while the woman is having sex. The reason for this is never quite explained. This will bring his life's work to completion. Max watches and listenes to this interaction through the elaborate closed-circuit video system on board the spacecraft. Max punches up a taped program, of the movie Metropolis, on another monitor. Max compares the appearance of his creator, Dr. Daniel, with that of the scientist in Metropolis. He then compares the image of the android in Metropolis with that of Maggie. This is could be the height of the film and an amplification of the overall plot. Metropolis is similar to that of Android such that in both films, the scientist creates his image of the ideal woman in the form of a machine or android. The reference to Metropolis is also ironic since Android was a very low budget, and Metropolis was the most expensive silent film ever made.
