there are three, but it was just housekeeping moves once Possibly decided to incubate in userspace. Nothing to restore content wise. Star Mississippi 23:14, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Commons Cat?

[edit]

anyone know how to find one for a photographer? There are many works by Booher in Commons:Category:Photographs_of_flags_of_the_United_States_at_Ground_Zero_(World_Trade_Center) and related WTC cats, but I can't figure out how to filter by her work since author doesn't appear hyperlinked. Here is what I found by doing a Special: Search and filtering to search in these fields: Gallery, File, Category, Creator - [1] - Commons has lots of her photos and it would make sense to have a category for her. Netherzone (talk) 02:24, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wow, she's even more wiki prolific than I realized. I have no idea how to make a commons category, do you? If not, I'll ping someone when this makes it to mainspace. Some of the coverage is likely to be flagged as too local in a GNG argument, but she passes NARTIST so together I think she's fine on notability. Star Mississippi 03:09, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know how to make a commons category, let me know what you find out. I agree she is notable. Netherzone (talk) 03:13, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks @CT55555: for your help on this one. You found a lot more than I could. CC @Netherzone & @Girth Summit. Another Possibly draft is much improved. Star Mississippi 03:51, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Creating and improving articles about women is one of my wikipedia hobbies. If there are others that need a boost, feel free to let me know. CT55555 (talk) 03:53, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There's a bunch of people over at WikiProject Women in Red who do this kind of work to try and get better representation of women on Wikipedia.
This month's theme is activism and art (including photography)

Ooh, didn't know about the art & activism theme, will go investigate. Thanks for the heads up. Art is also a personal interest of mine, and I decided to see if I could finalize a few of Possibly's remaining drafts about women this month. Draft:Cassandra Zampini is one I started to work on once I mainspaced Booher. There's not as much on her that I can find, but I think she probably is notable. Context on this mini drive, we noticed some of Possibly's drafts were expiring following his death and decided to see how many we could finish in tribute. It has been fun. Thanks again. Gallery?

[edit]

I'd like to make a gallery section for the article (since we have numerous images of hers at Commons). I am thinking around 4 to 6 images total. Seeking feedback on this, as on occasion some editors feel that galleries for artist's bios seem promotional. In the case of this article I think it will be an improvement and useful for our readership, and given the history of the article it's obvious it is not a promo effort. Let me know what you think! I think it makes sense since her FEMA photography is what she's notable for, and in some cases the photos are iconic of major moments. Makes sense to visually showcase as well as through words why she's notable. When I was looking through the Commons link I had a few "oh, wow. That was her work" moments, especially being in NYC myself. I'd still also love to figure out how to link broadly to the commons photos, but I don't think they're organized in a category or via any other search. I've created a gallery with a selection of six FEMA images from a variety of geographic locations, and events. Feel free to change these if other images are felt to be stronger, or more representative of her work. It is stunning what this photographer has seen and captured through her art/craft. Netherzone (talk) 20:00, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely concur on the latter. Are you seeing an alignment issue with the 9/11 rescue workers photo? I tried to fix it with {{clear}}, but that just made a huge white space. Maybe better to move that one up, or into the gallery? If it's just me, that's fine. Star Mississippi 20:03, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I moved the image up higher in the Career section. It looks fine on a 16" laptop screen, but not sure about how it might appear on other devices. Netherzone (talk) 20:05, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
either that edit or the increased text with respect to the exhibits fixed it, so we're good either way. Also personally prefer how you got the gallery on one line. Star Mississippi 21:03, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm late to reply, but support the gallery idea. CT55555 (talk) 02:59, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
