Notability criteria
[edit]Removed notability tag. Notability is clearly met under WP:PROF criterion #7:
"7. The person has made substantial impact outside academia in their academic capacity.
Criterion 7 may be satisfied, for example, if the person is frequently quoted in conventional media as an academic expert in a particular area. A small number of quotations, especially in local news media, is not unexpected for academics and so falls short of this mark."
Some examples of "frequently quoted in conventional media as an academic expert in a particular area" are Deutsche Welle, Euronews, The Register, Daily Mail, Telegraph, New Scientist, Quartz, New Yorker, CNN, Popular Mechanics, Vice, Physics Today, Wired, BBC, Quartz, New Scientist, Daily Mail, Telegraph, Spectator, Popular Mechanics, The Guardian, Vice, NewsTalk, IB Times, The Atlantic, Science Focus, National Post, Daily Mail, The Guardian, Times of India, IB Times, Alphr, Live Science, Daily Mail, Ars Technica, Marketing Magazine, Daily Mail, The Guardian, Popular Mechanics, Financial Times.
(Note that the criterion is "being quoted as an academic expert", so these references count towards this, even if many might be trivial mentions under WP:GNG.) Spectra239 (talk) 23:10, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- This bio by Anders has another list of media mentions Spectra239 (talk) 23:21, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- I agree with removing the notability tag, but for a simpler reason: we've already discussed whether he is notable in an AfD, which he passed. —David Eppstein (talk) 00:37, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
