Anders Johan Lexell was a Mathematics good articles nominee, but did not meet the good article criteria at the time. There may be suggestions below for improving the article. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

She was aware of the importance of science and ordered to offer Leonhard Euler to "state his conditions, as soon as he moves to St. Petersburg without delay". "and ordered to offer Leonhard Euler to .... " Please rewite in plain English. This is completely non-grammatical.
Soon after his return to Russia Leonhard Euler proposed to the director of the Russian Academy of Science to invite the mathematics professor Anders Johan Lexell to study mathematics and its application to astronomy, especially the spherical geometry. "proposed to ... to invite" Rewrite in English observing English grammatical norms.

OK this needs a thorough copy edit, it should never have been nominated in this appallingly badly written form. Suggest a copy-edit, a peer review before renomination. Quickfail.
Lexell was born in 1740, but Sweden (which Finland was part of at the time) didn't adopt the Gregorian calendar until 1753. Is the listed birthdate in this article of December 24th, 1740 under the Gregorian (New Style) calendar? If so, shouldn't a Julian (Old Style) calendar date be added? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bunkyray5 (talk • contribs) 01:31, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

Lexell did important work in spherical geometry which it would be great to describe here. Some references:

I’ll try to get around to creating a page about Lexell's locus or Lexell's theorem (with one title redirecting to the other) at some point. But the folks here, who seem to have done a good job with other parts of Lexell's work, might be interested to add some material to this article as well. –jacobolus(t)05:02, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
