– It isn't as if the food and the fish are two different things. I am amenable to other suggestions. --Relisted.innotata 04:40, 30 September 2014 (UTC) Srnec (talk) 22:36, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It is sold under plural titles such as "Anchovies" or "Anchovy fillets" Gregkaye 09:05, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weakly oppose -- Pages such as Chicken (food) and Fish (food) seem to use the parenthetical disambiguation -- while I don't disagree with the nomination in theory I think keeping a general pattern is important. Perhaps a larger discussion could be held at a more central location about which form is preferred.--Yaksar (let's chat) 02:34, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: Fish (food) would be better as Fish as food along with all the other related fish as food articles. There are many related articles that can be found on the {{seafood}} template. As the main contributor to these seafood articles I have always been in favour of this move, but have always been opposed, for no particular reason, by editors who don't contribute to these articles. --Epipelagic (talk) 05:43, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cut bait

[edit]

Fishermen use anchovies as fish bait for larger fish, such as tuna and sea bass.

Is this needed in "anchovies as food" when there is already an "anchovy" article? — MaxEnt 06:27, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As pizza topping

[edit]

Hard to fathom that an entry about anchovies as food had no mention of them as a frequent--if often derided as an "acquired taste"--pizza topping, at least here in the USA and traditionally, if not so much of late anymore. I've corrected that omission. FLORIDA BRYAN 2600:1700:B9B0:4500:65DF:DD6F:A891:97D8 (talk) 08:45, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
