Title of artcle
Why do we need to refer to her as "Anastacia (singer)" instead of simply Anastacia? Are there other meanings of the word? Alensha 22:01, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
Removed links to French sites
I removed the following external links as they are in French and don't belong on the English Wikipedia site. There is not currently an entry in the French Wikipedia for Anastacia so I will note them below in case someone wants to move them in the future.

U.S. chart position
Anastacia has one entry on the Hot 100, that's it. Not that I think for a moment that the user who insists on adding a "37" to "Left Outside Alone" with a slightly different IP address every other day will ever read this, but please stop adding it. For those interested in keeping this article accurate, please remove it when you see it added... it's tedious to have to correct it over and over. Thanks! -- eo 13:53, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
Name pronunciation
Does anybody know of an official source on how her name is pronounced? I'm wondering because I've frequently heard it pronounced /& n@s 'teI zi@/ or /& n@s 'teI Z@/, neither of which sounds right considering that towards the end is a 'c', not an 's' or 'z'. -- Smjg 22:58, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

- I'm conor moroney and i created the article Sprock, because of a big demand I decided it would be best to merge the article with this one. - A "citation needed" tag means someone felt it was an important enough piece of info that it should be referenced to a reliable online or print reference. So, you just provide a source. It doesn't mean the info is incorrect. Gimmetrow 21:34, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Fansites
What's up with the fansites? WP:EL is pretty discouraging to fansites - it used to allow only *one* *major* fansite to be listed. Even that is no longer mentioned in WP:EL, and in any event the fansite I just removed was a blogspot.com page, recently under construction. I think there should be at most one fansite listed, or none at all. Anyone else have an opinion? Gimmetrow 05:47, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- This edit replaced the subject's official site with a fansite. This makes it evident that the link is spam, and doesn't belong. Gimmetrow 16:31, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Unfair
THis article seems to deal with her lack of success in America too much, when describing her albums its kind of like they did good bt not in the U.S., i just feel its a bit biasst. What are your views —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Conor moroney (talk • contribs). 23:43, 4 January 2007
- This article currently has quite a few unsourced statements that should be sourced. Asserting why or why not some album did well, without a source, strikes me as a bit of original research. The article has plenty of content as it is, some more work should be given to sourcing the content to reliable sources. Gimmetrow 21:08, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- This article needs a lot of cleaning up. I'm struck with the amount of unsourced statements, the length of the article, and the biased attitude. I feel that the wikipedia community has let down this page. Thomas1617 02:14, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Online age databases
If you actually go to the two databases that were previously mentioned (Zaba and Ancestry) they clearly list an Anastasia Newkirk being born in the state of CA when Anastacia's mother (in her Anastacia: Facing the Music special about her breast cancer ordeal) stated she was born in IL. Also, the documentary also states that Ana has an OLDER sister born in 1970. So clearly, she was not born in 1968. Also, I tried to look for myself in both of the databases and could not find it. I believe this is all an hoax 11:10, 9 August 2007 (UTC)64.140.0.3
New album
Nothing has been confirmed by Anastacia and these titles are simply either made up or live songs eg Amandla, this should be removed now! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.41.159.109 (talk • contribs) 13:12, 5 April 2007
- Agree, removed unless cited to official website or reliable news article. Gimmetrow 14:58, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
-There is a video posted on the anastacia by s oliver website where she says that she is working on the new album(and the clothing line) right now. You can find the video by going to youtube, searching 'anastacia interview' and then click on 'recently added' and it should be the first one.
Hey everyone even though I did not request for the new untitled album page to be deleted, I think perhaps it should be, and then make a new page for the album once the title is confirmed. I just copied the material that I wrote from the new untitled album page and put it on this one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jt55354 (talk • contribs) 05:29, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Individual concerts
An editor recently added info about a concert.[2] It's unfortunately unsourced, but I wonder what kind of press it would take for an individual concert to be significant. The Live at Last tour article could use some attention, too. Gimmetrow 02:10, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:NotThatKind.JPG
Image:NotThatKind.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 15:39, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Age mystery solved
Go onto youtube type in Anastacia interviews and you will find one where she clearly says that she was 28 in 2001, the whole 1968 thing was a complete LIE
- and that MUST mean that she didn't lie in that interview... 77.101.18.129 (talk) 17:00, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Crohn's
There is no mention of anastacia suffering from crones disease, u can see the scar where her large intestine has been removed.
- it's spelt Crohn's and i doubt her intestine was removed, more likely that part of it was removed - slight difference there. this is common in Crohn's sufferers, due to the disease causing a blockage/partial blockage in the intestine. it can't be cured, so she still suffers from it, but is more than likely in remission. 77.101.18.129 (talk) 17:04, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Albums' sales
Anastacia has been confirmed to have sold the amount that was stated before, who are you to come and change them and demand that we keep such information that doesn't even have a source, until you give out a source, and it has to be more than 1, the original sales stay, and by the way your message is inapropriate you can't leave a quote like that sayin' to not remove such addition. If you have anything to discuss say it here and if you dont then that will give us a reason to not believe in such information that you may post. 66.30.14.0 05:41, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- She was recognized for selling more that 20,000,000 albums and you can clearly see only album covers on the photo of her receiving that recognition. [1] It has been reported she has sold over 50,000,000 records worldwide (including albums, singles and DVDs). Here's one of the sources: [2]. Iggy Ax (talk) 19:28, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Heavy rotation sales
Why Heavy Rotation has disappeared from almost every chart? Why it's sales are low? I mean, come on, 3 of her previous albums have been sold in over 20 million copies in total. Anyone knows the problem?? I mean, the album is pure 10! Congrats Ana! Iggy Ax (talk) 19:31, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Edit needed
She first gained prominence stealing the show from D. L. Hughley while he was hosting BET's Comic View, singing Oleta Adams' "Get Here" in 1992.
This song was written and first performed by Brenda Russell, and to attribute it to Oleta Adams is incorrect. Either this should be changed to 'Brenda Russell's "Get Here"', or (assuming Anastacia performed the song clearly using the latter version as a source) 'Oleta Adams' version of "Get Here"'. 98.211.44.211 (talk) 03:18, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Disagreements about her age/DOB
Arguable age
Im not that well informed on Anastacia but the IMBD (internet movie database) has information saying that she was born in 1968. As i said i dont know much about her just thought it should be checked. (Neostinker 22:03, 14 June 2006 (UTC))
Anastacia actually never said anything about her age, if I remember correctly. If it is true that she's older than the 32 mentioned on some websites, it has probably all to do with the American market on which she tried her success. It's a demand of that market to be younger than 30 when you start. A strange thing, cause no matter what age she is, we know who she is right now, Anastacia the girl with the amazing voice and the great artistic talent in songwriting and performing. Maybe she will at a certain time, say something about her age :) But she doesn't have to, if you ask me.
Thanks, i agree she doesnt look old enough to be 38,
She has spoken of her age in two interviews in the U.K.,she said she was 36 in 2004. Also would someone tell the person bitchin' to stop, (s)he is giving out saying IMD is not able to verrify itself and that they look to wiki for their info making them useless to us, why doesn't (s)he verrify his/her statements how do we know they're not lies. conor moroney
Year of birth
While IMDb says 1968, most other sites say 1973, eg: AskMen.com, CelebStation.org, etc. None of these "sources" are very reliable; wikipedia really only uses them out of convenience, because they happen to be online. However, this TimesOnline story says 1973, and that is enough to at least list both years. IMDb alone is not a sufficient authority to suppress contrary information in a moderately respectable online newspaper article. Gimmetrow 07:45, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- if the only site that says 1968 is the IMDB, that's not enough to include 1968 in the header. Also, does anyone have a source that she is of Irish ancestry? I couldn't find anything Googling it Mad Jack 20:21, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- That's fine with me on the year. I was primarily objecting to the removal of 1973. Gimmetrow 22:18, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
A reliable source for 1968 was asked for. Someone provided IMDb. I asked for a better citation because IMDb is not a reliable source. Apparently some other editors feel this is merely a personal opinion. IMDb is convenient because it is online, but it is a collection of fan-submitted trivia that does not cite its sources, and is therefore impossible to verify. It's not much different than a blog. I've seen numerous instances of incorrect information on IMDb. What do other editors think? The Howard Stern "reference" brings up another issue. How could another editor verify that "citation"? Gimmetrow 11:00, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- There is really zero tolerance for IMDB refs. Name five random entertainers with moderate-sized bios, and I'll give you at least one error for at leasty four of them that the IMDB made in some part of their bio. IMDB now corrects their birth dates from Wikipedia entries, as I've noticed, not the other way around. If we can verify the Howard Stern thing, it would be a reliable source, or rather, unless she was lying, the definitive source. Mad Jack 23:06, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- Regarding the Howard Stern thing, all news sources I've seen from 2003 stated she was 29 (born 1973); I find it doubtful this would have happened if she had clearly said she was 33 in an interview in 2001. Gimmetrow 23:22, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
This text was added as a comment to the article: Your opinion does not matter, stop interjecting unless you have the same proof that I have -- from the artist's own mouth
- I have reverted this. Unless there is some verifiable evidence for this "proof", it is contrary to WP policies of Verifiability, Wikipedia:No_original_research#Citing_oneself, and Reliable Sources. Even if she told you directly, nobody else can verify this. What IMDb says is at least verifiable, but there is no way to know what sort of fact-checking went into IMDb in this case. This is why I think most editors do not consider IMDb a reliable source according to WP policy. On the other hand, we know why newspaper articles say 1973 - it's from the official Sony bio. Even if I believe the Sony biography is intentionally wrong, I have yet to see any reliable source claiming that it is wrong. Blogs do not count. Gimmetrow 01:08, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
I asked for a citation for date of the alleged Stern interview in 2001. The {{fact}} tag was replaced with a link to IMDb, stating ...stop editing it out, they reference it below, so leave it alone. Two points: First, IMDb does not list any Stern interview from 2001, so IMDb is simply not a citation for this fact. Please provide a citation. Second, using a site as a reference is not the same as simply listing it in external links, see WP:CITE#Further_reading.2Fexternal_links and WP:EL#What_should_be_linked_to. Gimmetrow 04:31, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- It's now been over two months since I asked for verification of this alleged Stern reference. Unless verification can be provided, the statement will be deleted the next time I edit this article. Gimmetrow 21:36, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

DOB references
An ancestry.com link was provided as a reference for a 1968 date of birth. I'm going to assume this actually supports 1968, but it requires a login to check. I've substituted two other sources which appear to use the same data as ancestry.com. I'm not entirely convinced these databases are reliable (they have my birthdate wrong), but they're not blogs, and they seem to be verifiable cites for someone with the same name being born in 1968. Both 1968 and 1973 should be stable in the article. Gimmetrow 18:56, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Another age reference
On the anastacia section of the anastacia by s. oliver website it says that she is 33.
- On Loose Women on 17 September, she said it was her 41st birthday, which would mean she was born in 1968. I can't imagine she would claim to be older than she is. Qzm (talk) 00:51, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Edit Request 29 July 2012
{{Request edit}}
Could an administrator please return the page to its past state of 20:55, 27 July 2012 (My last edit - reverting vandalism by the same user) as the page has been consistently vandalised, I do not have the roll back right and to try and return it to its former state would be a headache to say the least. The reason I mainly ask this request is that the "editor" involved in these changes have left unsourced, extrememly biased statements on the page and deleted sound sourced data. Any help with this ongoing issue would be much appreciated. BrotherDarksoul Blether 14:01, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I can tell which edits you're referring to, where you feel factual information is being reverted, however I do notice that there is a lot of content being added where the only source is anastacia.com. Wikipedia relies on neutral, independent sources trusted to be impartial and reliable, such as media, books and scholarly works. Though there are exceptions, we prefer not to use anastacia.com for information on Anastacia. An editor removing content that uses this source would be in the right. Feel free to re-submit a request edit if you would like to clarify. User:King4057 (EthicalWiki) 15:19, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Anastacia facts
Anastacia, had cancer but very strongly survived. Her voice was very powerful, and most people think of her as their rolemodel. Sadly people discovered she was lying about her age, when she said she was born in 1973, we discovered she was born in 1968.Her fan popularity dropped a few hundred in the last years between the 70's and now. Her most famous song was 'Left Outside Alone' followed by 'I'm Outta Love.' Possibly in the last years from 2005- 2010 her fans popularity has got a bit bigger. As I said her voice is VERY strong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.178.78.30 (talk) 18:25, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
BLP edit request
This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
The article currently reads:
In 2008 Anastacia admitted that she had been lying about her age. Previously she had said she was born in 1973, when her birth was in 1968. She said she was "thrilled I can finally turn 40." [3]
That's a fairly contentious quote, and should not be sourced to a tabloid. Based on other sources, it appears to be true, but it needs to be reliably sourced to be in a WP:BLP. This appears to be a reliable source, and provides context that the tabloid blurb does not. The blurb could be changed to:
Early in her music career, Anastacia's record company promoted her as being born in 1973, rather than her actual birth year of 1968. After changing record labels in 2008, she "[came] clean" about her age, saying that "it [was] so nice to be able to actually do an interview and say that year aloud, to give my real age."[4]
I'm not wedded to the language, but I think it better reflects the information given in the (new, reliable) source. The {{edit semi-protected}} template requires an exact proposed changed. Anyone who happens by (either as a result of the edit request or otherwise) can feel free to modify the text I've proposed. 142.136.67.53 (talk) 09:53, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Poorly written introduction
The introduction paragraph has become an overly verbose piece that is just too long.
