Orphaned references in Anand Kumar
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Anand Kumar's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. Feel free to remove this comment after fixing the refs. AnomieBOT⚡ 19:17, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
No evidence for research paper publication in number theory
[edit]An edit long time back regarding lack of reference to his paper published in "Mathematical Spectrum" was reverted. The reference instead points to "Letter to the Editor: Happy numbers (page 122 and 123)," which was sent to the editor of "The Mathematical Gazette". The reference link used to exist, but it no longer works. A letter to the editor of a journal cannot be considered same as publishing a research paper. Letter to an editor doesn't go through same review process as the research paper. His letter is more like a very short observation (rather a conjuncture), not even a theorem with proofs. Hence it cannot be called a research paper. Also there is no proof or reference to the paper published in "Mathematical Spectrum". In my opinion, it is important to distinguish between people who do original mathematics research versus people who are math educators. Both are important, and play separate roles. We should credit people in a way which highlights their contributions correctly, rather than trying to potray them as someone else. You can also refer to the answers on Quora (https://www.quora.com/Where-can-I-find-the-paper-submitted-by-Anand-Kumar-founder-of-super-30) where people pointed to the same link and raised similar concern about distinguishing a letter from a research paper.
