Fair use rationale for Image:Anand2004film.jpg

[edit]

Image:Anand2004film.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

GA on hold notes

[edit]
  • [1][2][http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Anand1.jpg need better fair use rationales.
  • There are too many images being used - might wanna remove one or two.
  • Footnotes need to be placed AFTER a punctuation mark - at the moment most of them are before, this needs to be fixed.
  • References need accessdates

The following suggestions were generated by a semi-automatic javascript program, and might not be applicable for the article in question.

  • The lead of this article may be too long, or may contain too many paragraphs. Please follow guidelines at WP:LEAD; be aware that the lead should adequately summarize the article.[?]
  • Per Wikipedia:Context and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates), months and days of the week generally should not be linked. Years, decades, and centuries can be linked if they provide context for the article.[?]
  • Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (headings), avoid using special characters (ex: &+{}[]) in headings.
  • Generally, trivia sections are looked down upon; please either remove the trivia section or incorporate any important facts into the rest of the article.[?]
  • Watch for redundancies that make the article too wordy instead of being crisp and concise. (You may wish to try Tony1's redundancy exercises.)
    • “In the year [of] 2004”
  • The script has spotted the following contractions: doesn't, doesn't, couldn't, wasn't, Don't, if these are outside of quotations, they should be expanded.
  • As done in WP:FOOTNOTE, footnotes usually are located right after a punctuation mark (as recommended by the CMS, but not mandatory), such that there is no space in between. For example, the sun is larger than the moon [2]. is usually written as the sun is larger than the moon.[2][?]
  • Please ensure that the article has gone through a thorough copyediting so that it exemplifies some of Wikipedia's best work. See also User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 1a.[?]

You may wish to browse through User:AndyZ/Suggestions for further ideas. Thanks, Dihydrogen Monoxide 02:54, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, even though I didn't nominate this article because I knew it had few issues that you pointed out. Now that it is a GA nominee, I did not want my efforts to go wasted. I have made the following changes as against to your comments.
  1. [3][4][http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Anand1.jpg need better fair use rationales. - Corrected and checked for all the other images used in the article.
  2. There are too many images being used - might wanna remove one or two. - I feel the images used are actually very important to convey the content written in the article, be it the plot or while depicting the director in question. For several other articles that I've seen, this was very much considered. Maybe, you can reconsider this point.
  3. Footnotes need to be placed AFTER a punctuation mark - at the moment most of them are before, this needs to be fixed. - Fixed!
  4. References need accessdates - Fixed along with added first, last names of the authors wherever present.
  5. As such, there weren't any major changes needed as per the suggestions of the javascript program...the ones which I could spot were altered accordingly.
If anything else deserves any further editing, please notify me. Best regards, Mspraveen 15:45, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A few issues re. this article's GA status - so I'll list there here rather than going to GAR.
  • The plot section could do with some references, separate from just citing the film.
  • The cast section shouldn't be in a list form, or else should have more prose. And it should be more formal.

That's the main stuff - hopefully we can improve this article further. Dihydrogen Monoxide 07:20, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion pertaining to non-free image(s) used in article

[edit]

A cleanup page has been created for WP:FILMS' spotlight articles. One element that is being checked in ensuring the quality of the articles is the non-free images. Currently, one or more non-free images being used in this article are under discussion to determine if they should be removed from the article for not complying with non-free and fair use requirements. Please comment at the corresponding section within the image cleanup listing. Before contributing the discussion, please first read WP:FILMNFI concerning non-free images. Ideally the discussions pertaining to the spotlight articles will be concluded by the end of June, so please comment soon to ensure there is clear consensus. --Happy editing! Assessment comment

[edit]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Anand (2004 film)/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

Encouraging work here. Lage_Raho_Munna_Bhai will give you some ideas of what you are ultimately aiming for and what the article lacks, including more in-text references, and several other sections. Good luck. Ncmvocalist 15:50, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
