The station is scheduled to be operational by the year 2013

I think this should probably be merged with the existing Anaheim (train station) station article since this is really an add-on/improvement to the existing complex. Most of the content on Anaheim (train station), including all the infoboxes and navboxes, would be migrated anyway once the intermodal center opens. Zzyzx11 (talk) 20:05, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- I would agree if it's the same physical location. We should probably date the station to the start of Amtrak service which I think was 1983 (still working on the sources for that). Mackensen (talk) 02:09, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

I propose that the section "Future development" and most of the Anaheim (train station) article be moved to Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center. The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center is a totally new station about a third of mile from the Anaheim (train station). I think the article title should be Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center even though the station on schedules will be still be Anaheim. The old station is unlikely to be torn down and may be used in the future for special events to Anaheim stadium as it is in the parking lot of the stadium so I don't think the old station should just be a redirect.
Due to the complexity of the templates on Anaheim (train station), it may be necessary to make Anaheim (train station) the redirect although I recommend against it. I do not think the current redirect of "Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center" should remain as other stations that are transit centers use their full titles. - I can modify the templates if there is consensus to have everything merged the other way than what I performed last year per the discussion above.[1] My current stance is to make Anaheim (train station) a redirect. Most of that page is just templates and the section on ARTIC. The gist of the original station can easily be summed up in one or two sentences here. I don't think there is enough content to have two separate articles. When you think about it and look them up on a map, its basically an organization just moving into a new building located directly on the other side of the 57 Freeway. Maybe if there was a greater distance between the locations, I would have considered two separate articles. But when I look at where the platforms of both the current and new station end, they are only a few yards away from either side of the freeway.Zzyzx11 (talk) 05:56, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
- If the original station will be used separately for special events, I can considered it, but only if it will definitely be used and not based on unsourced speculation (including, for example, whether they will give it a new name or, because of the close proximity to the ARTIC, treat it as part of the ARTIC but as an additional "special events" platform. Because the original station is right across the freeway from the ARTIC site, it is hard to imagine how practical it would be to have a Metrolink train go from one to the other. It would probably have to go at the slowest speed because once it leaves the platform of one of the stations, it would have to immediately start braking so it does not miss the platform of the other one. - After consideration, I agree that Anaheim (train station) should be made a redirect and that my initial impression was based on unsourced speculation. Although it was appropriate to redirect the page before, I appreciate your willingness to reverse the redirect and to modify the templates. It will be sufficient to mention that trains stopped the platform in the parking lot of the Angel Stadium from 1984 to 2014 as a historical note about Anaheim train service. - I appreciate the responses. As mentioned, the existing station is on the other side of the freeway and physically unchanged. The template for ARTIC will get new coordinates that are already in the body of the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center article. Fettlemap (talk) 06:22, 20 November 2014 (UTC)

Given your extensive work in historical items, it is surprising that you would want to eliminate (reduce to a redirect) the Anaheim (train station) article. There is much historical information associated with that train station that would not be appropriate to include in the article for the new Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center. (For example, the history of service by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway--while the ATSF did not serve that current building, it did serve that station.) Please do not eliminate this article. However, maintaining them as separate articles will necessitate some duplicate information, but it should be kept to a minimum.

- A good thought but there was little station history if you take a look at the article before the migration started. ARTIC will be the third station since passenger service was restored to Anaheim. I would like to note those dates. I don't have any information about the history of service by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway but this discussion can reopen if someone is writes an article.
