An IP address has made several attempts at changing her family name to Reed, on one occasion with an edit-summary that she has married. This is apparently true, at least in so much as it matches her instagram account at [1], whose picture is exactly the same as the one used in this article (but possibly for not much longer; it's nominated for deletion, see above). Serols has reverted. So we have the dilemma that Serols' action is correct (the change is unreferenced), but the change may be genuine. The problem is that Marinovic/Reed may be of limited notability; she certainly isn't notable enough that anyone is going to take notice of her new married status, so there will probably never be a reliable source for her married name. What do we do? To my mind the whole article is a bit on the edge of promotional. Elemimele (talk) 17:43, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@GavinReed2021: This is a tricky one. I'm not a sufficiently experienced editor to know what WP does with such things. We normally rely on secondary sources: i.e. we'd need an independent newspaper to notice that she has married and write an article about it. A marriage certificate is a primary source. We also cannot use her website as a source about her: WP is famously not interested in what people write about themselves. If you know her personally, be aware that you should declare this as a conflict of interest, see WP:COI. I hope you won't mind, I'll ask the Teahouse people about this; they may know what's best, and tend to be friendly! Elemimele (talk) 20:29, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@GavinReed2021:, @Serols: to summarise teahouse discussion, marriage certificates aren't particularly useful because they're not published (and therefore cannot be read or verified), but we accept primary sources for simple matters of fact, such as dates of birth, and possibly by extension: married status. I have therefore inserted Marinovic's new married name with her website as the (primary) source. You'll have to understand, @GavinReed2021, we have to be cautious because just about anyone can claim that X has married and changed their name. We need at least some evidence, in fairness to those about whom we write articles. I hope the current situation is acceptable to all. Elemimele (talk) 06:56, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
