Jewish?

Tony Toponi

Does anyone know (or think) that the character of Tony Toponi is based on Tony Scaponi from Going My Way, played by Stanley Clements? I don't know if it is appropriate to start a trivia section, but if so, this might be appropriate for that section, if my assumption is correct. Runnerupnj 00:57, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Cossacks

Can someone confirm that the horsemen in the first scene are Cossacks setting fire to a Jewish settlement? I'm not quite sure what's going on there, and the movie doesn't do a great job of explaining it. Lomaprieta 02:31, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Time frame

The article says the movie takes places in a late 19th, early 20th century setting. However, the movie ends saying that the Statue of Libery has just been finished. If we know the Statue of Liberty was done in 1876-1886 (according to the Statue of Liberty article) isn't it obvious that the movie takes place only in the 19th century? Plus, if it were to take place in the early 20th century, the prescence of at least one automobile would've been noted. -- 200.44.6.129 14:16, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

The plot begins in 1885, as you can see at the movie's beginning. Possibly, the plot ends at 1886, so it would perfectly fit with the finishing of the Statue of Liberty.--213.39.141.245 19:46, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
