Are these truly great performances?
[edit]I remember a Public Television brochure about this series (I still have it somewhere). I never saw it, and at the age of 13, wouldn't have appreciated it. Fifty-six years later, I find myself less-than-impressed with the actors' tendency to rush through their lines, as if merely speaking Shakespeare were enough to convey his meaning. American actors tend to treat Bill more respectfully. WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 16:10, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
International vs. airdates
[edit]People, we're not moving forward here. I include some showings outside US/UK, they get deleted. OK, I didn't think it was really important, but then someone else starts editing (pre-existing) the global reach. But the series in fact was shown all around the commonwealth and on the European continent. Please remember: If faced with lack of references, there are other options than deletion. I'm going to reverse the last edit and will add some more details of foreing screenings and reviews. - The sourced info in the article says US. It makes no mention of any other country in North America. Wikipedia policies on WP:RS are quite clear. MarnetteD|Talk 21:43, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- BTW I did not remove the info about other countries. Also WP:BURDEN is always on the editor adding info to an article. MarnetteD|Talk 21:49, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- The info was already there, I did not add it. Please don't abuse the rules if you do not live up to them. Can't you read? The guideline you refer to explicitly suggests that outright deletion is not the best solution. And this is not the first time you've been told. Also, I said above that I was working on some references, you might have waited a bit. Spiny Norman (talk) 22:57, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- For the second time "I did not remove it." Can't you read? MarnetteD|Talk 23:02, 25 October 2017 (UTC)

- I removed the info on the German transmission because simply saying the series was broadcast in Germany in 196x isn't especially relevant. The fact that other countries have been added doesn't really change this; if we could even include what channels it was broadcast on, it would be better, but at the moment it's just a list of a few arbitrary countries, with no information beyond a year and "it was successful." Still though, we'll leave it for now. As for the discussion about the whole US vs North America thing, MarnetteD is correct; the source only refers to the United States. - Yes, the EVENTUAL, FINAL edit by marnetted sticks to the bare facts, once it was no longer deniable that it was shown in the USA. The initial point of discussion was if it went international at all! It's in fact very likely that it was shown in Canada too - less succesfull BBC shows than this were flogged all around the Commonwealth. So is deletion the best option here? A third opinion is most welcome. I did not really disagree with your earlier removal of non-english speaking showings; but following the discussion on if it left the UK or not, I've re-added some other country information (as already saw). Personally I think the fact that it was shown at all, in a relatively big country, still counts for something. In fact I'd rather prefer to include Germany and others we can find, or have none at all. Spiny Norman (talk) 11:01, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
