Amstrad PPC512 and PPC640

16 colors?

I have both computers and the integrated LCD is monochrome and the external video connector is physically a CGA connector that can be configured to output CGA or MDA video through switches. Also the manuals don't say anything about such a mode.

Does anyone have a verifiable source for that of the 16 colors?

PCW8256

AMSTRAD produced the PCW8256 just before the 8512. It came with a green screen monitor, a printer and those silly 3" diskettes. My cat killed the monitor by mistaking it for a litter tray one day. And I am talking about number twos here. One doesn't forget that kind of thing in a hurry. Still, it was a reasonably useful machine even with its odd operating system, and it was the most reasonably priced around that time ('84-5). The one I used was bought in 1985, in preference to the dearer 8512. JL Nov 3rd, 2006 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.107.105.15 (talkcontribs) .

Chinese??

You really should do your research before making such statements. While it may be true early Amstrad products were made outside of the UK (Japan etc) and then had an Amstrad badge "stuck" on, most of their products were designed and built by Amstrad.

It was a British company, so to suggest otherwise is wrong. If you take apart an Apple computer, all of the chips etc will be made elsewhere, and by other companies, yet Apple is an American company, so please, your statement is total rubbish.81.152.12.59 (talk) 17:28, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
