This is the most disturbing piercing ever, and only a freak would have this done. That's why I removed it. It is nasty, sick, and disgusting. Do NOT add it again.

Image hiding
[edit]Why can't you guys hide this picture? I really don't like looking at that photo of a pierced penis. It's shocking. I know Wikipedia isn't censored but at least hide some bad images so people won't get shocked.--Hundred-Man 13:53, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hide image? Why should anyone hide the image? You are the one who typed "ampallang" into the Wiki search bar, what did you think you were gonna get? Seary6579 13:15, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Edit for content accuracy?
[edit]Suggestions. Being the proud owner of one of these piercings for over 2 years, it is my understanding that the abstinence of sexual contact/stimulation of 6 months as suggested in the article is a little excessive. My experience with healing and whatnot was that the first week was the most painful, with moderate bleeding on occasion. After the first month, sexual activity was for the most part unhindered (with the exception of having to change out the original barbell, which was significantly long to allow for swelling, with a shorter one). It was explained to me by my, as well as other piercing artists, that the average COMPLETE healing time is 6-12 months, but sexual activity can generally be partaken around the month mark with proper use of a prophylactic.
Also, to my knowledge, the SUPERURETHRAL piercing is by far the most common style, due to minute, yet possible urinary function dysfunction from the possibility of urethral scarring from Transurethral ampallangs, and therefor probably warrants some degree of mention. Also if we could find some source material referenced (namely on the Dayak culture) that would kick ass. Seary6579 13:29, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- Information seems fine to me... I have had this piercing now for about seven months, and it has not healed to a point where I could have sex without extreme discomfort. Although this might have to do with healing the apadravya, I have heard of many such stories. I don't think that the six months is excessive at all. Anywhere that you look, from what I've seen, says the same thing. This piercing can heal very fast sometimes, and very slow other times. Six months is just an average time to wait before trying.
- Also, the correct term is transurethral - as the article suggests. Most of the time, this piercing is not transurethral. If your piercing was, that would explain the faster healing time. monokrome 00:07, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well... good point... healing times do vary, I suppose... I had never personally heard of sexual function being impaired for more than a month or two, but I guess 6 months would be a good average after reading up a little bit more.
- The superurethral variation would be one that does not pass through the urethra. Seary6579 05:25, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Photo
[edit]This article absolutely needs a photo. I notice from the history that the article used to have a photo, but it was deleted from the Commons due to licensing issues. Please replace it. People who look up this article will want to see what the piercing looks like, unless of course they are fascists who are only looking up the article in the first place in order to see if human body parts are being displayed and if so, pick a fight about it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.99.86.46 (talk) 05:36, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- Quite. If you know anyone who has one and who'd be willing to supply a photo, then by all means. Exploding Boy (talk)
The Image That Was On The Page Before Was A Pic I Uploaded When I First Started Contributing To Wiki, I Wasn't Sure How To Do The Copyright Info Correctly, Then Another User Sharpened And Lightened Up The Pic Causing More Confusion. The Image Is Mine I Took It Of Myself In My Bathroom With My Camera Phone. The Page NEEDS And Image. I Just Hope There Will Not Be Anymore Problems With The Pic Being Pulled Down. If Anyone Thinks That I Have Provided The Wrong Info Or Knows A Better Way To Keep The Pic Up Let Me Know. Randywilliams1975 (talk) 21:45, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
