1972 NFL moving hash marks closer together
[edit]The field goal wikipedia article points this out. Is it in a wikipedia article that this was done to open up the running game? The field goal article mentions the (side) effect of providing an easier angle for field goals, and we look to discussion about field goal to see what the NFL was doing about there being too many field goals.
