Serious?
[edit]Considering they apparently really employ star-gazing Semir Osmanagić as teacher in anthropology, what kind of university is this? A diploma mill? Hexmaster (talk) 19:26, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
- There's a website created by a disgruntled former faculty member that deals with unsavory practices of the owner of said establishment, as well as his questionable academic and personal history, to put it mildly. You can find it here: http://scamsinfo.com/index.htm It contains enough information and references to original sources from local print media to warrant a Controversy section be added to this article. --Vladanr (talk) 23:22, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
History of SUNY partnership
[edit]Please stop deleting the section indicating the history of the university's partnership with SUNY Canton -- it is a significant episode. Nomoskedasticity (talk) 17:30, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- NewFace88, you seem to be a little confused about how wikipedia works. Wikipedia is not the private domain of Denis Prcic. It is a place where, like many universities -- perhaps not AUBiH, but most universities -- the free exchange of ideas is embraced as a way of creating an accurate and comprehensive view of a particular topic. Here, at wikipedia, all users are free to edit as long as they stay within the guidelines... guidelines established by wikipedia, not Denis Prcic. So quite frankly, what your boss is telling you is irrelevant as to whether an entry is valid or not.
- If AUBiH wants to be a respectable institution of higher learning, it needs to act the part. Until then, information unbecoming a respectable institution, such as AUBiH's conduct with SUNY, will continue to arise and become public knowledge. The way to change things is not to repeatedly try to delete information on wikipedia, but to change the behavior at AUBiH. Fairview360 (talk) 13:41, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
Removed material not in citation.
[edit]I removed some material that was not in the provided citation. --Malerooster (talk) 21:47, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
At the time when the reference and text was added to the article, the SUNY website announced the following:
- "The AUBiH-SUNY Canton partnership was structured so that all tuition payments were made by students to AUBiH, with the understanding that AUBiH would pay SUNY Canton its appropriate share of that tuition. This arrangement was not upheld by AUBiH in a timely or effective manner. By withholding tuition funds for several semesters at a time, and by issuing a demand to SUNY Canton for U.S. $1.5 million for services and materials that AUiBH was contractually responsible for pursuant to the agreement, AUBiH had made it impossible for SUNY Canton to continue to deliver this program."
Since SUNY has decided to delete the above entry from their website, it is appropriate for Malerooster to make the same deletion in the article. At the same time, it is notable that the wikipedia editors that orginally supported the deleted text did so with the appropriate reliable source, SUNY itself. Fairview360
- I'm the person who originally added that text. I think it ought to be restored. The fact that SUNY has changed their website does not make it untrue that they cancelled the agreement for the reasons given. The source as given by Fairview360 was published. Its subsequent removal from a web server does not mean it was "unpublished". Nomoskedasticity (talk) 06:16, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
- I certainly would be more comfortable if a third party, independent of the parties involved in this, have reported on this, then it could be mentioned or added. Do we have that? --Malerooster (talk) 12:47, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
The only place this now appears on the web is here http://forums.chronicle.com/forums/index.php?topic=61518.105 where the published material is quoted on February 25, 2012 . Fairview360
- That would probably NOT be a RS, so I would not include it if that is all there is out there. --Malerooster (talk) 00:43, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
Agreed Fairview360
There is a detailed article on the history and subsequent implosion of this collaboration in the Watertown Daily Times, which should qualify as a RS and allow a more detailed description of the problems on both sides that led to the agreement being abandoned. Archaeology?
[edit]Why does this university have a "Center for Archaeology" when their degree programs focus on English, Business and Technology? As far as I can see, they don't even offer courses in Archaeology or the social sciences. NewJerseyLiz Let's Talk 14:27, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
- Good question. Can we find any references to it? --Ronz (talk) 15:33, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
